Achievements in this period:
. Kiln performance record achieved (Kiln running time of 1286 hrs).
. Transport and dedusting assessment at Portland Plant and at St.
Genevieve Plant. Action plan developed.
. Developed skill matrix and training plan for the workers (15 persons)
and Supervisors (3 persons).
. Changed the approach of the use of contractors by using in house
recourses for specific jobs with an average estimated saving of $50,000
per job.
. Defined annual and short term objectives for the Supervisors. Coached
them reach those objectives.
. Consistently follow the results of the department and made required
corrections.
. Reduced spare parts inventory related with the mechanical area.
. Modified the Dust Collectors and Service PMR's to reflect accurately
what is being done based on available resources and equipment
requirements.
. Modified the stock strategy for bags a dust collector related materials
by improving the inspections and the response from the vendors.
Reduction accomplished on safety stock : $41,992; reduction accomplish
on the maximum level: $355,664.
. Modification of the flow pattern on the cooler main dust collector
hoppers based on CFD study. The result was an annual saving on the bags
and bags related expenses (cages, labor, etc) of $43,590 per year.
. Modification of several transfer point, chute design modification,
vacuum points and dust collector piping lay out. The results were an
elimination or substantial diminution of the emissions. Trained the
work force on the concept of the modification.

. Analysis of the alternatives to dedust the blending hall.
. Repair analysis of the twisted column of the main bag house structure

. Reinforcement of the structure of raw mill reject bucket elevator due
to corrosion.
. Complete rebuild of several bucket elevators (chain, segments, bucket,
brackets, etc)
. Compete rebuild of pan conveyor (chain, pans, rails, segments, etc).
. Analysis of the influence of the housing deformation on the kiln pan
conveyor

. Developed and implemented the Preventive Maintenance Plan (strategy,
job steps, coordination, etc). Loaded the PMR's on SAP. Modified the
Preventive and Predictive Maintenance strategies and job steps as
needed in order to keep improving the PM based on the results of their
execution.
. Developed and implemented a Lubrication Master Plan at Mason City Pant
. Enhanced vibration program (spectral band alarms, alarms levels, F max
of the spectrums, FFT lines, etc)
. Conduct the RCAF (Root Cause Analysis Failure) on those failures that
passes the threshold criteria
. Developing the FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) on equipment ranked
with criticality "A".
. Conduct the down time analysis.
. Modified the lube system on the Kilns
. Redesigned the compressed air system of the Plant, increasing its
efficiency and operating cost.
. Support the changed shell sections on the Kilns, flipped the girth
gear, changed kiln trunions, machined Mill Journal, are among jobs
performed and coordinated.
