R.N. - Rotavirus Vaccination Project- internship:
Responsibilities:
* Enrolling and accessing patients from Emergency Center and RTA with
suspected signs and symptoms of a gastroenteritis virus. Over 200 enrolled
patients in a statistical research study. Accessing the child for positive
symptoms of fever, vomiting, and diarrhea. Responsible for processing
saliva and stool samples in a lab for research. Duties include translating
a survey in Spanish and English for the purpose of acquiring statistical
information for research. Nursing skills included teaching patients and
family ways to prevent the spread of gastroenteritis. Attained consent from
parents to allow enrollment of their child for the research project.
