It is with great pleasure that I send my cover letter to 1 to 1 Therapy Services for the position of a part time IBI therapist in the area of York Region. I currently work at the YCDSB as a permanent educational assistant. I am looking to fulfil a part time position after school hours and/or on weekends. I believe that I possess a unique mix of experience and skills that can definitely help me with the skills necessary to work as an instructor therapist using ABA with individuals with ASD.

I have completed a program at Seneca College called Autism and Behavioural Science and received a certificate in instructor therapist. I have received a certificate in Early Childhood Education-Advanced Studies in Special Needs from Humber College to work as an early interventionist. As well I am an ECE graduate from George Brown College. I believe my skills and experience reflect my versatility as an enthusiastic person who is capable of working in an exciting and challenging career involving children with autism and their family.

Over the past five years working for the school board I have gained a variety of experience working with different children and adolescence with a variety of exceptionalities. Some specific skills are how to formulate behavior management strategies, programming for full inclusion, understanding and implementing picture symbols for student such as; visual supports, social stories, first/then schedules, calendars, transitions toys, clocks, timers etc. I also have a full understanding of autism, IBI, and practical ABA strategies.

I am bilingual which will help me communicate with more individuals better, and I am always ready to expand my knowledge and gain new skills that will assist me in the working world. I am hard working, highly motivated individual with excellent communication and organizational skills. I work well in a team environment as well as independently.
