Objective
The field of electronics has always been of special interest to me. I have
pursued this interest throughout high school, Occupational Educational
Center, College, the Navy and on into the work force. I entered the Navy
under the Advanced Electronics Program and graduated the Navy's Basic
Electricity and Electronics school with a letter of excellence.
During the four (4) years I was in the Navy, (1984-1988) I repaired and
replaced various equipment. I worked with Tag outs, Wire Removal Forms, the
3M System, Tech Libraries, and other programs and procedures which were
required by the Navy's Engineering Department to insure safety and quality
with electrical work. After my discharge from the Navy, I went to work for
Scientific Atlanta, through Victor Temporary services, building, testing,
and repairing cable converter boxes, line extenders and amplifiers
On January 1, 1989, I began working for Kodalux as a mechanic/technician. I
was responsible for repairing equipment in the lab, printers, packers,
developers, interneg machinery, cutters, Kodak Ektalog computers and IBM
computers. I was also responsible for quality control through a process
known as PC (Printer Control), which involved running charts on a computer
and making corrections to time and intensity to control density. On March
29, 1989, Kodalux announced the permanent closing of their Atlanta plant.
When Kodalux closed I was hired by Kodak and trained in Rochester, NY. on
the IBM Series III Copier where I finished top of my class. After working
on the Series III copier for one year I was advanced to the High Volume
Copier, and sent back to Rochester, NY. for training on the Ektiprent
series copier. In addition to working on Kodak equipment, I was also
responsible for parts inventory, upkeep of technical manuals, technical
newsletters, modifications, interfacing with customers, preparing expense
reports, and backing up other technicians, when necessary.
When Kodak downsized due to internal restructuring, a sluggish economy, and
the phasing out of the IBM line, I was unable to find work in my filed of
equipment maintenance and repair, So I entered the transportation filed as
a driver with Transport America, I did this for about a year. But soon
discovered that I missed my family life as well as the satisfaction
obtained by repairing equipment. So I left transport America, and went to
work for Cardinal Scale Manufacturing company as a Field service
Technician. I was there for a year while the person I was replacing was out
due to a work related injury, (Damaged Disk in Back) once he was able to
return I was released. I then accepted a position with IDI, a food service
distribution facility in Duluth, Ga. I was there for about a year. Until
they filed for bankruptcy protection, at that time I was contacted by a
recruiter for a scale maintenance position with Wiggins scale. I've worked
there four years, and enjoyed my work, and the people I work with but had
an opportunity at Lanier that I couldn't let Pass. As a Technician I repair
various analog, tape and digital based hardware, transcription equipment;
as well as IBM and Hewlett-Packard, Personal computers. The Lanier
transcription Department, (Solutions) was purchased by Medquist in 2004.
Changes in Management, corporate goals, business direction, and
Obsolescence ended this position. In 2008, I became sick, gastric distress,
and was declared Disabled. I feel I am approaching the point where I can
return to work. But need to discuses position requirements to be sure. In
