Extensive geological and geophysical experience and integration in evaluating basins,
regional stratigraphy, prospects, properties, producing formations and individual wells. Expert in
analyzing and solving complex problems. Have attained an established record of finding oil
and gas in economic quantities. Adept at integrating large data sets to identify anomalies, high
grading those with merit and pursuing the best. Have generated many prospects in
stratigraphic, structural and combination settings, resulting in numerous discoveries and
successful recompletions. Accomplished in basin studies, risk assessment, negotiations,
operations, property evaluations and acquisitions. Self-motivated professional, capable of
working independently or as part of a team. Have consistently delivered recommendations and
ideas that made money.
Professional Experience
Consultant May, 2014 to present
Regional and field evaluation - ETX Eagle Ford and Woodbine
Well site evaluation
Senior Geologist EXCO Resources, Inc. 2008 – 2014
Generated two Cotton Valley prospects along with numerous leads resulting in the
discovery of over 50 BCF. Completed extensive evaluation of Upper Cotton Valley
formations around Vernon Field and in the Holly Field area. These studies led to several
successful recompletions, seismic identification of channel sands and a water–flood
project. Completed regional mapping including structure maps, isopach maps, cross
sections and log attribute maps via Petra and these were used to identify “sweet spots” in
each of the South Texas Eagle Ford, ETX Eagle Ford and TMS. Provided evaluation and
support for numerous potential acquisitions (Eagle Ford, Cotton Valley and Granite
Wash). Mentored younger geologists and engineers. Delivered over $16MM (net) to
EXCO via recompletions and cost-saving recommendations.
Consultant Humble Geochemical Services and Murphy Oil Company 2006 – 2008
Provided geological support and guidance for a geochemical team (including Dan Jarvie)
in the evaluation of various proven and potential shale gas basins. Evaluations included
the Woodford, Fayetteville, Barnett, Caney, Bossier and Floyd shales. Generated several
lead areas in three separate basins including the Woodford in the Anadarko and Ardmore
basins.
Operations Manager Vintage Sports Cards 2000 – 2005
Supervised receiving, inventory, shipping and production in facility with over 100
employees and successfully negotiated numerous contracts (lease space, shipping, raw
materials, etc.). Dramatically increased production and morale while reducing overtime
and introduced many efficiencies and innovations which saved and incrementally added
over $3 million net to the company in 5 years.
Independent Prospect Generator 1986 - 2000
Generated numerous shallow and several deeper prospects by integrating 2-D and 3-D
seismic data with subsurface control along the Texas Gulf Coast. Negotiated seismic
purchases and reprocessing; assisted in planning, permitting and acquiring proprietary
data. Successfully marketed promoted prospects and producing properties. Achieved
commercially economic successes in greater than 80% of the shallow prospects using well
data, seismic and amplitude analysis (AVO). Discovered Pine Tree, Little ROK, Tiger
Bend, Long Branch (Catahoula), Speaks (Yegua), Sims Tank and other fields.
Geologist and Manager various E & P companies 1980 – 1986
Held positions of Geologist, Manager of Geology and Vice-President. Evaluated
producing properties (caused several successful development wells to be drilled), handled
operations, supervised personnel, generated prospects (eight successes), assessed
potential acquisitions and screened outside generated prospects in Texas, Louisiana,
Florida and Indiana for Davis Oil, Apexco, NRM and Harken.
Senior Petroleum Geologist Amoco Production Company 1975 – 1980
Held several progressively higher positions. Evaluated acreage and generated prospects
in the Mid-Continent and the Texas Gulf Coast and managed all operational aspects of a
very active joint venture drilling program (Devonian and Silurian tests) in the Appalachian
Basin. Completed Lower Frio regional evaluation and caused three wells to be drilled in
the Texas Gulf Coast. Discovered over 1 MMBO.
