Baker Hughes 2011-2013

Talent Acquisition Team Lead

Proactively lead a team of Talent Acquisition professionals during all phases of recruitment. This

involved the planning and implementation of full life cycle recruitment strategies that effectively reduced

our time to fill from an average of 60 days to 30 days.

• Managed a team of three people, consulted and worked closely with management to

identify resources, processes and initiatives that will fill vacancies in the areas of IT,

Finance, Legal, Human Resources, Industrial Services Portfolio, Health, Safety and

Environmental Services, Sales and Marketing.

• Oversaw the selection and management of RPO (Recruitment Process Organization)

and Third Party Vendors to support recruiting efforts; provide direction and feedback

regarding services received and results.

• Managed the recruitment process for up to 300 requisitions for staff, managerial,

director, and executive level vacancies by using various methods such as cold calling,

employee referrals, networking with professional organizations, attending and

hosting career fairs, College and University recruitment, etc.

• Created, tracked and presented recruitment metrics reports from Taleo:

(Active/inactive requisitions, time to fill, # of internal and external hires, etc.);

consolidated data and presented to management for further analysis.

• Successfully implemented Baker Hughes’ first “Diversity Career Event” which

targeted veterans, females, minorities, etc.

Jacobs Technology (Subsidiary of Jacobs Engineering) Houston, TX 2007-2010

Talent Acquisition Manager/HR Manager

As a strategic business partner I led all Talent Acquisition activities of this Engineering and Sciences

Contract. This included managing the day to day operations and strategic direction of the following:

Sourcing and Recruitment, Staff Augmentation, On-boarding, Implementation of the HRIS, and

University Recruitment.

• Initially was hired as the Lead Recruiter. By request of the General Manager, acted as the

HR Manager overseeing the HR office while HR Manager was on leave. Under my

guidance I administered HR policies and procedures, effectively handled employee

relations issues to include union involvement, compensation and benefits, Training,

Recruitment and retention. As a result of that experience, the Talent Acquisition Office

was created and I was promoted to establish a department, where I lead a team of three

Recruiters, two Staffing Specialists, and one Administrative Assistant

• Collaborated with Senior Leadership, Talent Acquisition Team and various hiring

managers, to design and implemented a strategic plan to reduce vacancies. The strategic

plan included identifying a social media strategy, student and professional associations,

networking, targeted sourcing campaigns, training and development for recruiters and

management

• Established recruitment goals, tracked and monitored metrics

• Within the first six months, successfully reduced the time to fill vacancies from an

average of 75 days to 45days by implementing internal process improvements

• Recruited Engineers, Project Managers, Project Controls Specialists, Geologists,

Machinists, Welders, Pipefitters, Electricians, Clean Room Specialists, etc. using various

methods such as cold calling, employee referrals, networking with professional

organizations, attending and hosting career fairs, etc.

• Developed relationships with Colleges & Universities to promote Branding and to recruit

the best and brightest for employment, Co-op, and Internship opportunities

• Provided leadership in transitioning to an Electronic Applicant Tracking System (Taleo),

and integrate that with PeopleSoft

• Increased the company’s ability to flex staffing due to work fluctuations by strategically

using close to 100 contract personnel in Engineering and Technical positions

• Worked with Leadership to implement Workforce Planning Strategies that included (RIF,

Outplacement Co-ordination, Succession Planning, etc.)

HCA (Hospital Corporation of America) Falls Church, VA; Houston, TX 2001-2006

Human Resources Manager

Lead the HR department of two hospitals for a major Healthcare Organization to include direct over site

of several functional areas to include Benefits Administration, Training, Recruitment and Employee

Relations.

• Ensured compliance with employment related laws (EEOC, OSHA, Wage and Hour,

etc.).

• Developed, delivered and supervised training programs such as New Employee

Orientation and Management Training and Behavioral based Interviewing Training

program

• Managed employee relations activities to include investigations, mediation, grievance &

appeals process

• Provided leadership with guidance on terminations and negotiated severance packages.

• Lead the Performance Management Process

• Coached and Trained Management on Sexual Harassment, EEO, Progressive Discipline

• As part of a special project to the VP provided leadership for the “Be A Nurse/Be A Rad

Tech” recruitment program that support 16 Human Resources Directors, 23 Recruiters at

HCA facilities which had approximately 12,500 employees n three states.

• Implemented a recruitment strategy to reduce the number of vacancies by 25%

• Developed and nurtured relationships with colleges and universities by making campus

visits and providing opportunities for HCA to support the college through sponsorship

opportunities and by using staff to assist in instruction (Externships, classroom speakers,

etc.)
