Professional Profile:

An intelligent self-motivated structures engineer experienced in computer aided design and rapid prototyping, I bring

innovative system level ideas and a focus on detail to team design work.

• SolidWorks (CSWA), experienced with Solid Edge. CAD, FEA, ANSI / ISO GD&T.

• Numerical and data analysis in MATLAB, MS Excel and Python.

• Technical report writing in MS Word and LaTeX.

• Use of LabVIEW for DAQ in labs, on design teams, and for hobby projects.

• Design experience with structures, dynamic systems, mechatronics, and thermal systems.

• Skilled in rapid prototyping, composite part layup, shop-work and general hands-on creativity.

Engineering Experience:

USC AeroDesign Team: Structures Engineer – 2014 School Year

First place champions in the 2014 Cessna Raytheon AIAA Design/Build/Fly international competition. Sig-

nificant weight reduction realized by the structures group played a critical role in securing the USC team victory

against 72 other teams.

Personal Achievements:

Took responsibility for the design of the airplane fuselage, and achieved a 50% weight reduction from previous

designs by switching from a balsa truss to a foam-core monocoque fuselage.

Worked across teams to integrate electrical systems, design payload mounts, and optimize vehicle drag profile.

Designed tools for composite parts manufacture, developed processes for fuselage manufacture and integration.

Verified structures designs via in-lab and flight testing of critical components.

Mitigated dynamic flutter by modifying wing design.

USC SolidWorks Class: Grader – 2014 School Year

Guided students in design projects and homework, assisted professor in hands-on lab sessions, graded homework

models for design intent and modeling efficiency. Requested by professor to work for him.

USC Rocket Propulsion Laboratory: Core Team Member, Avionics Group – 2013 School Year

Designed and built a 6-in minimum diameter composite rocket, with the goal of testing an in-house thermal

protection system and advanced avionics. The rocket achieved an altitude of 60,000ft and a top speed of Mach 4!

Personal Achievements:

Developed robust power circuitry for the avionics system that separated telemetry from parachute deployment

electronics. Allowed for system checks prior to arming the rocket at the launch pad.

Co-lead composite part layups that produced flight hardware.

Learned basics of how to operate mill, lathe, and TIG welder.

Gordon College Physics Department: Intern – Summer 2012

Designed and constructed the mechanical and electrical systems of a 3-axis dynamic force plate for use in

kinesiology studies of human runners. Provided technical support after project completion.

Education:

B.S., Astronautical Engineering University of Southern California

May 2014 – 3.47 Major GPA Los Angeles, CA

B.S., Physics Gordon College

May 2014 – 3.68 GPA Magna Cum Laude, Presidential Honors Wenham, MA

Leadership:

Teacher Assistant for Introductory Engineering course: taught LabVIEW, directed student group projects.

International Leadership Conference attended in Budapest, Hungary – Fall 2008.

Senior Outdoor Guide for 12 day university backpack trips focused on environmental education and student

development. WFR medical certification. Summers of 2010-12.
