Corpus Christi Army Depot (05/08/2010 – 3/19/2013) – Capacity Planner UH60

Corpus Christi, Texas United States

Supervisor: Victor Sprunger - 361-***-****; Contact: Yes

Pay Grade: GS-1152-09

Salary: $55,000.00 per year

Duties: As a Capacity planner I was the critical link in the success of manufacturing and remanufacturing

life-cycle at CCAD. Through LMP my essential requirement were to schedule and reschedule production

operations to the assigned work center or work centers to avoid work stoppage at all steps within the

process. Comprehensive, intensive knowledge of the rotary wing aviation maintenance, repair and

overhaul mission of the Corpus Christi Army Depot (CCAD) to serve as a liaison with higher

headquarters and private industry partners awarded performance based contracts in support of aircraft

maintenance production operations. To manage the production schedule, I managed multiple production

elements such as current production orders (PO), the bill of material (BOM) for each production order,

the routing assigned to the production order, capacity of each work center required, material availability,

order and operations start and completion dates, where an asset/part was within the support shops of the

production line and any potential production inhibitors. I adjusted for circumstances that create minor

and/or major inhibitors to a work center’s capacity such as temporary tour of duty, equipment failure,

inclement weather, material shortages, additional shifts, staff increase/decrease, and additional equipment

requirements. As the capacity planner I was expert in utilizing the following Logistic management

Program (LMP) reports to assist in analyzing production and improvements with the rescheduling of the

Depot’s work load: Stock Requirements List (MD04) requirements, expected deliveries, production and

planned orders, Capacity Planning Report (CM01) weekly view of scheduling details, (availability

capacity, capacity utilization, remaining capacity, over and under-loaded work centers), Stock Overview

Report (ZMMBE) available inventory levels by type (Reserved, Blocked, Unrestricted Use), request,

induction, and return of items, Production Order Status Report (COOIS) displays details, order headers,

production order numbers, material numbers, target quantities, start and completion dates, system status

of a production order, MRP List Collective Report (MD06), exception messages, material needed for

production, Capacity Planning Details Reports (CM03), breakdown of scheduled production orders, status

of the released operations, Shop floor Input-Output Report, view of work in progress, anticipated and

completed operation, Work Center List (CR05), depot-wide work centers based on the selection criteria,

allows the capacity planner to isolate each work center’s master data record, and Missing Pars List

(C024). I collaborated and communicated with various depot staff members to include production

coordinator, other capacity planners, program manager, master scheduler, work center supervisors, MRP

WIP controller, production engineers MRP External controller, production scheduler, and pre shop

examiner. Communicating with the Depot Staff Members I was responsible for utilizing the information

to identify production problems and the path ahead with the corrective actions; I attended weekly

production review meetings discussing and resolving material acquisition, planned production order

issues, production operation confirmations, corrective action plans, critical production issues, end item

completions and/or partial completions. Utilizing this format allows me to orchestrate with all entities of

production within the Depots the best economical, expeditious process. My daily duties consisted of

monitoring stock on hand to meet scheduled program requirements, coordinating with production

coordinators the release of material needed for an operation within its Required Delivery Date (RDD),

coordinating with production engineers to resolve technical issues that exceed our written instruction (i.e.

tech data/ DMWR changes, updated process documents, Master Data corrections, tooling/ equipment, and

acquisitions/introductions), coordinating with work center supervisors to optimize work force utilization,

reviewing bill of materials, depot overhaul factors and routing sequences and coordinating with program

managers to set up inspection programs (i.e. the retrieval of unavailable material, back logged Material,

and Material with long lead times). At the point of program closure I was responsible for clearing all

unused WIPCA material from the multiple work centers and support areas, review and clear all open

transfer requirements, using goods movement documents created for the program and verifying that

movement types 261 and 262 are correct to avoid program closure delays, review the mission data

analysis report to verify that the completed asset has been confirmed complete within LMP database,

validate the program is ready to closure utilizing estimated completion dates, program notes to validate

the number of assets authorized, inducted WIP, and completions are accurate, resulting in completion of

programs in a timely manner. As a capacity planner, I was looked upon as an expert working within my

prescribed areas of responsibility by managing multiple tasks and projects, analyzing data to plan and

resolve any and all production inhibitors, effective communication at all levels of management within the

Depot.

execution of the Induction Sheet/Shortage List issued from capacity planners, reviewing the required

parts lists and initiate corrective actions for the parts required that will not meet the required delivery date

the material and creating a transfer order from suitable inventory sources, correcting delinquent or

missing parts utilizing the controlled exchange process as a last resort. Monitored open transfer orders to

ensure timely material picks occur for specific parts shortages. I establish training meetings to ensure the

following production coordinator functions are being performed (i.e. requesting adjustment to material

requirements, requesting adjustments where material is needed and not in the Master Data Bill of Material

AWRDS, and DEXS) as production coordinators. In addition, I make sure all subordinates were equipped

with the necessary tools to prevent potential production inhibitors and are proficient to proactively avoid

work stoppages and production constraints. As challenges arose such as missing routing documents, I

made sure production coordinators are prepared to positively identify material belonging to his/her work

center, research the proper part serial number in DEXS for verification, and contact Pre-Shop Examiners

for corrective dispositions of the materials. As a Production Control Lead, I attended production review

meetings with my subordinates and discussed estimated delivery dates, WIP items, Action plans, critical

parts shortages, material requirements planning, and end item completions to include WIP status. I made

etc. I developed and ensured employees were in compliance with standing operating procedure for the

activity supervised. Implemented and complied with agency, state, and federal regulatory Occupational

Safety and Health, and environmental requirements. I prepared and participated in various types of
