SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS
My experience within a law enforcement agency has provided me with the knowledge of how a public agency runs as well as enabled me to observe the community through law enforcement's point of view, thus broadening my vision of how a community functions on a daily basis.
I have established, professional and functional working relationships with every rank of associate from entry level employees up to an executive level. Through networking, interactions at events and training, I proved capable of providing professional services to meet a specific need.
I am an active volunteer with the Sheriff's Mounted Posse enabling me to interact with the community and other organizations. This experience allows me to work with the public and utilize my public relations and marketing skills.
I am a board member of the Perris Volunteer Mounted Posse and previously held a multi-year position on the Riverside Community Peace Officers’ Memorial Foundation fundraising committee; these roles allow me to function as an event planner, organizer, leader and trainer in a variety of different situations.
I have excelled knowledge in computer programs such as Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and various publishing software and social networking technology.
I work well with deadlines and always show the need for going beyond the minimum requirements, with minimal need for direct supervision.
EXPERIENCE
Garmon Corporation/ NaturVet - Graphic Designer (2/2014 – 04/2014)
During my time with NaturVet, my role was to take over basic graphic design tasks and arrange/gather advertising information for the marketing department. I would research advertising opportunities, and remain in contact with various advertising outlets to determine best timing and pricing for NaturVet’s advertising needs. Along with the advertising duties, I also completed a variety of flyers for distributor and dealer monthly specials on products, update PowerPoint presentations and photograph new product. I would place the updated images and information on their blogger site for their sales reps’ to access. The position was eventually decided to be outsourced to a sole advertising company to handle all the advertising needs, thus eliminating the need for my position.
Animal and Bird Veterinary Medical Clinic - Graphic Designer (5/2013 – 02/2014)
As a graphic designer for the Animal and Bird Veterinary Medical Center, it was my duty to help create a corporate brand for the three entities that make up the hospital, which include the Medical Hospital and Emergency Care, Dog Tired Inn, a grooming and boarding business, and Bonafyde Pets, a pet supply and wellness store. I have developed logos, corporate designs and signage for these programs. Along with my graphic design duties, I was also part of the shelter project team. This program was in the beginning stages of development. The goal was to provide the local shelters with a cost effective spay and neuter program to help reduce the homeless pet population created by over breeding. Its goal was to also include growing client knowledge around the subject of pet wellness. I maintained the current website, social media sites and began building an online retail store. I provided custom brochures, flyers, business cards and advertising material. I also provided photographic coverage for special events and advertising.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Department: Graphic Arts Illustrator (10/2012 - 5/2013)
As a Graphic Arts Illustrator within in the Multi Media Unit at the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, I performed a variety of duties including designing multimedia presentations from start to finish, updating old presentations and running slide shows for academy and department events. Other duties included the creation of brochures, posters, annual reports and other various recruitment materials from conceptualization to printing of a final product. I worked with various members in the Department of all ranks in order to obtain all the details needed for a project and meet the needs and goals of the Department. For this role I upgraded my knowledge in the Adobe Master Suite from CS3 to CS6. I often had to pick up using new technology quickly as new tasks were created daily that required the use of new software and techniques.
Riverside County Sheriff’s Department: Sheriff’s Service Officer (04/2008 - 10/2012)
As a Sheriff’s Service Officer within the Media Information Bureau of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, I completed a variety of jobs such as photographing, photo editing, photo touch-up, graphic design, basic video assignments, and organization of the digital data and photo library. I updated PowerPoint presentations, revised recruitment material and prepared items for press/media release and web posting. I often was tasked with designing training power point presentations for specific occasions. To accomplish these tasks, I worked within the Adobe Suite CS3 and also the Microsoft Office programs. I was also in charge of updating our video library from VHS technology to DVD and making a record of the training videos in the library.
Best Buy Store #392 Moreno Valley: Supervisor/ Sales (08/2005 - 12/2008)
As supervisor of the digital imaging department, I covered my previous sales experiences and was in a position to handle customer specific problems while continuing to effectively run the department. I was in charge of scheduling 8-10 employees and making sure that the stores financial goals were met. I problem solved any issues that the department may have experienced from customer relations to budgeting, and sales revenue. I was added to the stores innovation team where my job was to speak for my department on ideas that might help change our department and create better customer centricity and functionality.
Best Buy Store #392 Moreno Valley: Sales (11/2004 - 08/2005)
I was hired as a seasonal sales person in the Digital Imaging department before becoming a full time sales employee and eventually a senior sales associate. It was my job to explain and demonstrate the various functions of digital cameras and camcorders to customers, while providing them with all the necessities and knowledge to meet their specific needs and complete their overall purchase.
Southern California Riding Magazine: Photographer/ Writer (02/2001 - 4/05/ 2011)
During my time as an intern and freelance writer/photographer for Southern California Riding Magazine, I was sent to various events within Southern California as well as Las Vegas to photograph and report on different equestrian events. My role was to interview a wide variety of people for articles and advertorials for the magazine, write up a 300-500 word article, and submit it to my editor. I covered, wrote articles and photographed World Events such as the 2005 FEI World Cup in Las Vegas, NV, and the 2004 Olympic Trials for the Equestrian Games in Del Mar, CA and San Juan Capistrano, CA.
