Dear Sir or Madam:
This letter is to preface my resume for a medical transcription position
with your company and to summarize my resume briefly for you.
In March 2011, I completed Everett Community College's Medical
Transcription certificate program with honors, a 3.44 overall grade point
average, and at the top of my class. Everett incorporates the Career Step
transcription training modules into their curriculum. I have taken other
college-level courses in the medical field, but I have found transcription
to be my infinitely preferred career path.
I began my position at Pearson Transcription in May 2011 as a medical
transcriptionist. Within three months, I became an editor on 28 medical
accounts, one of which had 11 separate regions and hundreds of providers,
another account was a registered nurse who dictated record reviews for
legal cases, and I also covered several legal accounts. The medical
accounts covered numerous types of reports ranging from Independent Medical
Evaluations to chart notes and consultations and multiple specialties
including forensic pathology, neurology/neurosurgery, pain management,
chiropractic, orthopedic surgery, psychiatric, neuropsychological, and oral
and maxillofacial surgery. The editing aspect involved quality assurance
and mentoring and instruction in the use of software, reference materials,
and client-specific guidelines/matrices, as well as education in
terminology and grammatical preferences, among many other responsibilities.
Multitasking, communication, and attention to detail were critical
components of this position.
My most recent position with tMedica as a hematology/oncology transcription
has unfortunately been eliminated. I do still transcribe orthopedic
dictation for them per diem.
I would appreciate an opportunity to speak with you to further discuss the
skills and value I have to offer to your company. Thank you for your time
and attention, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Christine A. Wilbur
