SELECTED PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Managed implementation of new EMR system . Inefficient patient record documentation was causing
providers to fall behind in patient visits which negatively impacted revenue and profitability. Created a
project and timeline to evaluate, test, select, and install an EMR system. IMPACT: Improved patient care.
Raised provider satisfaction. Increase patient visits (20%) and revenue (15%).
Instituted new protocols to reduce bad debt expense . Needed to address yearly bad debt expense of
nearly $3.5M. Created new monitoring, reporting, and collection protocols. IMPACT: Reduced bad debt
expense from over 11% to 3.5%. Protocols were adopted by six additional locations.
Initiated and negotiated the strategic sale of company . Company needed to align with a larger entity
to achieve growth and prove the efficacy of its chronic disease management program. Sold company to a
$4B healthcare company. IMPACT: Company became the core of a physician centered chronic disease
management company for the new owners, retaining all providers and most staff.
Developed a civilian source to efficiently supply civil engineering supplies to government entity.
USAF procurement of supplies exceeded budget by 27%. Formed a government contracting company to
procure supplies, manage inventory, and meet timeframes for delivery. IMPACT: Won five 5 year USAF
contracts. Reduced procurement expenses by an average of 12% ($300K in first year).
Spearheaded development of practice management company’s comprehensive compliance
program. Led team in formulating a program that included a written plan, procedures, and training
curriculum. Oversaw annual audit and refresher training protocols. IMPACT: Avoided HIPAA and other
regulatory violations. Practice and its professionals were never found to be out of compliance by any
government agency or payer that conducted an audit or review.
Reorganized hospice division to grow its patient base and profitability . Implemented changes in
patient acquisition strategy, field nursing staff, and back office. Negotiated more favorable terms with new
pharmacy and medical equipment suppliers. Improved relationships with physicians. IMPACT: Patient
census increase from 14 to 60 patients in 90 days. Revenues increased over 400%; margins increased to
a positive 40%.
