Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to indicate my interest in the position of Stress Engineer.

My name is LIU Jiye, currently working with an integrated commercial aircraft design office as

an A330 Senior Stress Engineer.

I graduated with merit from Technical University of Munich, Germany in Aeronautical science.

My academic qualification includes two Master’s Degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace

Engineering.

And I am a highly motivated professional with 8 years of applicable aviation experience in the

maintenance, modification and repair of jet aircrafts since year 2006.

As a stress engineer, I have been responsible for stress analysis on primary and secondary

airframe components. I am comfortable with classical hand calculation methods as well as

modern software tools, and familiar with structural mechanics, failure criterions and design

margin policies.

I am interested in pursuing a technical track career in your company and I am confident that I

COMPETENCY AND SKILLS

– In-depth understanding of structural mechanics, load paths, classical closed-form solutions in

strength, stiffness, structural instability and failure theories, mechanical properties of engineering

materials and analysis verification methods for metal structure mainly (Bruhn, Niu, Roark, etc.).

Senior Stress Engineer (A330-200/-300PTF)

December 2012 – Present

– Analyze complex structure for limit, ultimate and fatigue criteria and perform spreadsheet level

static calculation and sizing of the primary and secondary structures with A330 Passenger to

Freighter (PTF) conversion programme in collaboration with relevant structure design engineers.

– Read and extract design information from CATIA Drawings and support the development, execution

and validation of Global Finite Element Models (GFEM) to represent the aircraft structure to deliver

loads and strains required for analysis.

– Perform load calculations and constraints on cargo handling system during the development and

certification phase of A330 PTF.

– Participate in the implementation of verified methods and tools in the in-house developed stress

analysis platform.

– Generate stress sheets or justification reports and formal compliance documents for manufacturing

drawings, certification documents in line with the related airworthiness regulations. At the mean

time, review sections of documents prepared by stress group mates and recommend approval.

– Participate in Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR) and Critical Design Reviews (CDR). And validate

engineering drawings and attend the Integrated Product Team (IPT) meeting, responsible for the

integration and structural design.
