-Phlebotomy
• In this course, I acquired the proper venipuncture technique to have a successful draw.
• After obtaining draws from a rubber arm, we progressed to performing venipuncture on our
classmates.
• Venipuncture involved both straight and butterfly needles and classification of the color of the
tube top for their respective blood testing purpose.
• Knowledge on proper handling technique/ requirements for special specimen collection.
• Practiced communication skills between patient and phlebotomist, to ensure the patient is relaxed
and comfortable.
-EKG Technician
• Practiced on classmates to successfully place the 10 electrodes or sensors to obtain their
electrocardiogram, by using an electrocardiograph.
• Knowledge on the basic steps in EKG interpretation.
• Clinicals on classmates to obtain their vital signs by the use of sphygmomanometer, and
stethoscope.
