Responsible for the NLMK Indiana scrap receiving facility and inventory control for all raw
materials brought into the facility for Melt Shop operations.
Oversee a salaried workforce of 3 company personnel, 4 company union personnel, and a union contract workforce of 50
personnel.
Monitor monthly budgets for onsite Scrap Handling Contractor to ensure efficiency and
achieve cost savings for the company whenever possible.
Maintain current inventory, order, and schedule all deliveries of raw materials and consumable
goods needed to facilitate the making of steel.
Oversee the daily delivery of upwards of 4,000 tons of scrap. Manage inventory in excess of
100,000 tons of scrap daily, to include managing the movement of all scrap from the NLMK
Indiana dock unloading area and the overflow lot to the main Scrap Yard.
Responsible for generating waste streams for all refuse generated in the Melt Shop which
has ceased the need for landfilling at NLMK Indiana. Waste streams are currently generating
a profit for the Melt Shop.
Responsible for revising and creating various systems through training and visual
management procedures that have substantially decreased contamination issues within the
Melt Shop Raw Materials system.
Work hand in hand with Purchasing, Accounting, and Outside Sales to lower the cost of raw materials
used by NLMK Indiana and to resell secondary product to outside consumers
Monitor and address any quality issues that arise within the Melt Shop Raw Materials system
and NLMK Indiana's Scrap Yard.
Revised, developed, and continue to create needed Standard Operating Procedures to help the
Raw Materials / Scrap Receiving area perform more safely, efficiently, and cost effectively.
