reduced Permit set requirements.
Director of Innovation and Fixture Design August 2007-April 2011
This was a newly created role previously shared by two directors. The concept
was to bring all newness under one Director. I started with three associates
and in a years time I expanded to 12 which included 4 direct reports with 8
designers reporting to them.
This position was responsible for New Store Innovation Projects for planning,
fixturing, interior architecture, finishes and lighting.
While in this role, I oversaw the Re-invent of Kids, Shoes, Home, Men’s
Basics, Table and Tower, Beauty and Men’s and Missy Sportswear.
Included in this responsibility was the development of New Brand Fixture
Launches for Dana Buchman, Sonoma, Fila Sport, Chaps, Jennifer Lopez and
Marc Anthony. Jennifer and Marc were the largest New Brand initiatives in
Kohl’s history.
A consistent goal at Kohl’s is to deliver self funded Innovation. With the
implementation of “Design to Value”, reverse auctioning and vendor
contributions, I was able to deliver Innovation at a fixture cost equivalent to
Kohl’s pre-innovation cost in 2003.
