Experience

Doctoral Candidate at Case Western Reserve University

August 2012 - Present (2 years)

Doctoral thesis on computational and experimental molecular dynamics of polyethers and polysilicones in

mixed solvent solutions. Principally advised by C. Benson Branch Prof. Daniel J. Lacks. I have served as a

teaching assistant with 1) Prof. Wainright for the Senior Lab; specializing in Heat Exchanger and Distillation

column experiments 2) Prof. Landau for the Thermodynamics of Chemical Systems course 3) Prof.

Qutubuddin for the Graduate Thermodynamics Course.

Computer simulations utilized scripting and execution of programs in Fedora Linux, Bash, Perl, Fortran, and

Gromacs MD packages.

Master's Thesis at University of Rochester

August 2011 - August 2012 (1 year 1 month)

I studied the extraction of light from OLED devices in Dorris Johns Cherry Prof. Ching W. Tang's and Lewis.

J. Rothberg's research groups. My thesis is titled "Studies of Silver Spheroidal Particles for the Improvement

of OLED Light Extraction" derives mathematical models to inter-relate device structure and out-coupling

efficiency of scattering enhanced OLEDs. The derived models suggest key metrics to evaluate the optical

properties of such scattering particles and determines those properties for several materials. Committee

formed of Dorris Johns Cherry Prof. of Chemical Engineering Ching W. Tang, Prof. of Chemistry Lewis J.

Rothberg, Prof. of Optics Miguel Alonso, and Prof. of Chemical Engineering Hitomi Mukaibo.

-Installed software on a high performance computing system for optical simulations

-Utilized Finite-Difference Time-Domain methods to determine optical properties of metallic nanoparticles

-Determined and evaluated a model which quantifies the out-coupling efficiency of the OLED as a function

of nanoparticle optical properties

-Solved partial differential equations (PDEs) with tools such as Wolfram Mathematica. Several Key PDEs

which describe how light interacts with nanoparticles were analyzed.

-Wrote an overview on the progress of the OLED over the past 25 years

Teaching Assistant at University of Rochester

September 2010 - September 2011 (1 year 1 month)

Professor Mitchell Anthamatten

Course: ChE 413 Engineering of Soft Matter [Spring 2011]

Course: ChE 244 Heat & Mass Transfer [Fall 2010]

Responsibilities include:

-proposing grading schemes for homework assignments

-grading hw assignments in a timely fashion

-writing clear homework solutions

-interacting with students during office hours and providing assistance in learning course material

-proctoring / administering exams

-assist in the training of new teaching assistants at annual workshops

Resident Adviser at University of Rochester

August 2008 - May 2010 (1 year 10 months)

B.S. Chemical Engineering at University of Rochester

2006 - 2010 (4 years)

REU Chemistry Undergraduate Fellow at University of Rochester

May 2008 - August 2008 (4 months)
