Thesis: Optimizing Production Scheduling Using Stochastic
Modeling and Boundary Condition Stability Analysis (real
world evaluation of production scheduling of multiple
molding centers via probability based computer simulation)
Experience:
Jan2007-Present: Owner, JOF Foundry Systems, LLC
In addition to other contracts also ran a small specialized foundry
equipment company. Using my own designs built several different
equipment used to produce foundry molds including tuned molding
machines with integral stripping machines, flood coat application
equipment, heat treatment furnaces and material handling systems.
June 2010-May 2014: Director (Projects and Strategic Planning),
Independent Consultant under contract to Steelcast, Ltd, Bhavnagar,
Gujarat, India
Responsibilities including: Management and oversight of team for
development of tooling and processes to produce steel castings under
new technologies. Direct management of a project team for capital
expansion responsible for increasing the plant capacity from 9000 tons
per year to 27,000 tons per year. Managed cost reduction teams to
reduce costs across all aspects of operation resulting in average
reduction of nearly 10%
January 2007- May 2010: Manufacturing Systems Engineer, Independent
Consultant under contract to IMF, s.r.l., Luino, Italy
Responsibilities including: Feasibility and engineering studies for
new foundry applications, advisement of staff and clients as to
production processes and methods, on site existence to clients, on
site project management and over sight, assistance to technical staff
for commissioning and production startups. Sales assistance for
planning, equipment and technologies for international markets, attend
and prepare for international shows and trade fairs.
July 1988-December 2006: The Harrison Steel Castings Company, Attica,
Indiana, USA
After completion of my university education I had a strong desire to
leave the realm of theory and develop my practical skills. I accepted
the job at Harrison as a staff mechanical engineer.
