I was hired as a welder’s helper to assemble dump trailers. I advanced to a full time welder after a short time. I built walls
and assembled trailers unassisted. I welded steel and aluminum and ran an automatic welder after brief training.
I became a chassis line supervisor in 8/96. My duties were to coordinate individuals to insure that all jobs were performed
correctly. I had to read blue prints to insure that suspensions were installed correctly. I had to complete all quality check sheets,
production sheets, and personnel forms. I was also the paint booth supervisor.
I became the Steel Body Line supervisor in 10/97. My office duties remained the same but my line duties changed. I now had
to instruct employees how to build complete trailers while insuring that quality remained at acceptable levels. I had to read and
evaluate schedules to insure the manpower was positioned correctly to meet schedules. I also had to provide information to the
fabrication department and the purchasing department to maintain needed supplies and materials.
In 2/98, I also assumed supervisor responsibilities over the Fabrication Department. Before resigning in 12/99, my
supervisory duties covered the Steel Body Line, the Fabrication Department, and the Paint Booth. During the months before,
Dorsey did not have and engineer and the salesmen were selling new designs. I was responsible for drawing these designs and
insuring the product was built correctly on the shop floor.
