I have been in the medical field for 16 years with 14 years of coding
experience. After 14 years I have learned to code every service that
was provided by Calais Regional Hospital, Calais, Maine. I have spent
a considerable amount of my free-time reading and studying to improve
my coding abilities. I obtained my CCS through my own perseverance and
look forward to obtaining my CCS-P also. When I come across
unfamiliar coding I will do a thorough research using the ICD-9, 3M
encoder, principle procedure book, CPT, Coding Clinic, internet and
whatever else is necessary to get to the correct code. If I am not
comfortable with a code I am not afraid to ask for help. When I
approach a type of coding I don't know I am driven and thrive on the
challenge to learn it. I have no problem taking constructive criticism
and I love to learn. I enjoy working with peers and a director that I
can continue to learn from. Over the last 16 years I have learned each
job and filled in as needed for each position within the Health
Information Department. I take pride in myself for honesty, respect of
others, confidentiality of patients and others, dedication and loyalty
to my employment. I am true to the code of ethics.
Thank you for considering me for your position.
