OBJECTIVE: To obtain employment

WORK EXPERIENCE

Assistant Manager

Dollar Tree

November 2011 – April 2013

Retail

I started working at Dollar Tree as a Part-time Sales

Associate, which required me to assist customers with their

purchases, unload the truck, and stock the shelves. I was

promoted to Assistant Manager in October 2012. As an

Assistant Manager, I was responsible to run the store

efficiently in the absence of the Store Manager; including

but not limited to: all opening/closing operations

(preparing the tills for the Cashiers/preparing the end of

day paperwork and deposits, and getting the work lists

ready for the Sales Associates, following merchandise

guidelines in order to set up displays/planograms, filling

in where ever needed at all times, and assisting customers

with returns and/or complaints/questions.

Night Auditor

Cerca Del Mar - (same owners as the Diplomat)

October 2011 – July 2012

Hotels and Lodging

As the full-time Night Auditor, I am the Manager on Duty

from 11pm to 7am. I am responsible for all accounting

logistics, while checking in and out guests, making

reservations, and ensuring guest satisfaction at all times.

I am also responsible for the completion of laundry, house

calls made during the night, while taking excellent care of

all the guests in house.

Shift Leader

February 2011 - October 2011

Fuddruckers

Food and Beverage

While working for Fuddruckers, I was very versatile with

which position I was to work at any given time; being a

shift leader meant doing anything from dishwashing to

managing the staff. I was in their training program to

become a manager, but unfortunately, the restaurant had to

close down. I was awarded Employee of the Month twice

(this honor is chosen by other coworkers), and was

recognized by their Corporate Manager for my work ethics.

I was always on call, and ready to give my all to the

company anytime I was needed. I got along with all the

other employees and made work fun, but efficient, while

managing all staff members in the absence of a manager.

Senior Game Advisor

October 2010 - April 2013

GameStop

Retail

At GameStop, I was responsible for making sale quotas

daily, processing sales, keeping the store orderly, and was

working on becoming a closing manager, however was promoted

at another job around the same time. While working along

with the other employees in this trying economy, I was able

to keep our sales a float, and had the best numbers (for

reservations of new games and subscriptions to our discount

program) in the district. I still help out from time to

time when they need someone to fill in, and will always

having a lasting relationship with the company.

Night Auditor

July 2010 - October 2011

The Diplomat

Hotels and Lodging

As the full-time Night Auditor, I am the Manager on Duty

from 11pm to 7am. I am responsible for all accounting

logistics, while checking in and out guests, making

reservations, and ensuring guest satisfaction at all times.

I am also responsible for the completion of laundry, house

calls made during the night, while taking excellent care of

all the guests in house. The hotel unfortunately had to

close down.

Operations Manager

January 2010 - August 2010

Candlewood Suites Norfolk Airport

Hotels and Lodging

When I first started working at Candlewood Suites, I was

hired as their part-time Night Auditor. As the Night

Auditor, I was responsible for every guest’s satisfaction

from the hours of 11pm to 7am, being the only employee on

duty. I was required to do all the daily and end of the

month accounting, ordering for our snack area, answering

phones, checking guests in and out, and ensuring excellent

hospitality at all times. After just a few months, I was

brought on board full-time as the Operations Manager. As

the Operations Manager, I was one under the General

Manager, but we had to work together to efficiently run all

departments (Guest Relations, Housekeeping, and

Maintenance) given that we were the only form of management

onsite. My sole responsibility was to operate the whole

hotel in a cost efficient and perfect manner. Included in

that responsibility was all Human Resource tasks: Payroll,

scheduling, employee reviews, money logistics, and hiring

of new employees; covering shifts in any department in the

case of a call out; handling all guest complaints and

ensuring the correction of any problem; creating

relationships with corporate companies to ensure sales

contracts; ensuring that all accounts payables and account

receivables were up to date: by sending bills to companies

that owed us, and keeping up with the payment of all

invoices billed to the hotel; ordering all supplies for the

departments to run smoothly; and helping out any way I

could. I was on call 24-7 just in case something happened

at the hotel that the staff couldn’t handle themselves,

they were to call me and I was to solve the problem as

efficient as possible. Working at the Candlewood Suites as

the Operations Manager, I learned a great deal about how to

run a business, and even inspired me to change my major to

Business Management when I do return to school.

Sales Representative/ Team Leader

January 2010 - May 2010

Colonial Crossings

I scheduled vacation packages in-order to ensure people’s

attendance to our timeshare presentations solely based on

out-bound calling and was rewarded many awards for top

sales and highest show rates. I eventually became a team

leader and had to keep my team at a constant level of great

performance. I was offered the position of lead sales, but

I declined due to my promotion at Candlewood Suites.

Guest Services Representative (Front Desk/Night auditor)

February 2009 - January 2010

Holiday Inn Virginia Beach-Norfolk Hotel and Conference

Center

Virginia Beach, VA

Hotels and Lodging

While employed at the Holiday Inn Virginia Beach-Norfolk

Hotel and Conference Center, the company was going through

a major renovation, which made for tough situations at the

front desk. I worked directly with the Front Desk Manager,

to ensure our guests were still happy while staying with us

through the chaos of construction. I was required to check

in/out guests rapidly and efficiently, while answering the

phones and directing guests around the property. I was

responsible for processing all outgoing and incoming mail

to the appropriate department or guest. I also worked two

audit shifts a week, and was temporally the hotel's full

time auditor, while they were short handed; when they did

hire a full time auditor, I was responsible for training

the new hire, to efficiently perform all duties as an

auditor - including typing thorough instructions on how to

complete it and hands on training. As an auditor, I was

responsible for closing all house accounts, making

adjustments to folios, billing the correct A/R account for

use of meeting spaces, sending all daily emails to on-site

and corporate managers, and all other end of day closing

logistics. I was also the Manager On Duty for the audit

shift; meaning any problems that may have occurred during

the hours of midnight to 8AM I was responsible, being the

only employee on duty, for handling the issue myself

(anything from housekeeping to maintenance issues).

Through the experience I gained at the Holiday Inn

Virginia Beach - Norfolk Hotel and Conference Center, I

feel I have a well-rounded ability to assist with any

customer service issues presented to me. I helped my Front

Desk Manager make a check list for all shifts to insure the

completion of daily tasks, along with filing, typing

letters to guests informing them of the offers and benefits

of staying with us, and even helped with the weekly

employee schedule.

Senior sales Associate, Servsafe certified

April 2008 - January 2009

7-11 Virginia Beach, VA

This job required me to do anything from taking out the

trash to ordering the stock for our store. I was a cashier,

cook, an order writer, a shelf stocker, a shift leader,

Servsafe certified, and of course, responsible for cleaning

spills up and keeping the store in excellent conditions at

all times. I was also in their training program to become

an assistant manager. I was responsible for all operating

procedures for my shift and required to prepare the store

for the next shift, to efficiently start working

immediately. I worked great with the other employees, while

also providing excellent customer service.

Michael's Arts and Crafts

Virginia Beach, VA

Retail

I started out as a sales associate, helping customers find

what they needed, processing the sale (cashier), unloading

the truck and stocking the shelves. I was promoted to Front

End Supervisor after just four months of working there. As

the Front End Supervisor, I was responsible for all of the

sales associates and cashiers on my shift. I was in charge

of making sure they were on task, while running the

customer service counter. I had to open and close each

cashier's registers at the beginning and end of their

shift. I was responsible for giving the cashiers change

when they needed it. I also processed all returns,

exchanges, and class registrations (the company offered art

classes in various categories). After about six months of

being an FES, I was promoted again to Support Specialist.

Being the Support Specialist meant I was responsible for

the Audit, the accounting (preparing and delivering the

bank deposit, ensuring the safe had the correct amount of

money every day, preparing the tills, preparing the change

drawer, and all other money logistics), all receiving,

ordering office supplies/ special orders, payroll,

scheduling, and price changes. I was also required to hire

new employees, keep track of all current employees'

disciplinary files and do quarterly reviews. While working

at Michael's, I experienced and learned the basis of

running and operating a large corporate store.

As a Cafe Server, I was required to make assorted coffee

drinks, sandwiches, and desserts. I had to keep the cafe
