EXPERIENCE

Associate RF Engineer September - December

2013

MOBILENET SERVICES INC.

Having good experience with the previous employer, I have gained more experience on Telecommunications’ stuff. My

work here includes:

• Performing tests related to network coverage, signal strength and optimize the results.

• Testing on CDMA, GSM and LTE technologies where came to learn about the LTE frame structures and protocol layers.

• Using JDSU kit, where I did Validation and Optimization testing with which you could generate the logs that calculates

the signal coverage in a particular area you are working.

• After taking the logs, we post process them and create a report for the client.

• Good knowledge on Samsung and Alcatel Lucent working equipment.

Associate RF Engineer May - August 2013

MOBILECOMM PROFESSIONALS INC.

As an Associate RF Engineer, my responsibilities include the following:

• Experience on technologies like CDMA, LTE, OFDM and telecommunication concepts. Strong grip on RF propagation

side.

• Pre sweep all the antennas with Anritsu (a tool used for the sweeps) and save the results.

• Do Pre and Post fiber testing for each Hybrid cable and fill the Fiber testing form and record the results.

• Finally preparing the entire Close out Package (COP) documentation with the help of Civil and Tower team and

uploading the documentation in the Site Handler.

Graduate Research Assistant, University of Texas at Arlington September 2012 -

May 2013

Have done research based on how femto cells improve the wireless communications scenario under the guidance of Dr.

Qilian Liang.

PROJECTS

Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) Simulation

• This project explores MIMO scheme for enhancement of wireless signal reception in diversity systems employing more

than one antenna either on the transmitting or receiving side .

• A Rayleigh channel is assumed and we notice that, for an increase in the Signal to Noise ratio there is a decrease in the

symbol error rate.

• So by calculating the symbol error rate we show that improvements in the system are possible.

Evaluation and Comparison of Rate vs Power control in IS-95 and CDMA 2000

• In this project, we were asked to evaluate and compare the rate and power control between IS-95 and CDMA 2000

1xEV –DO.

• Using a Rayleigh fading channel with Doppler shift of 100Hz, three schemes: Channel inversion power control for IS-

95, Equal power allocation for CDMA 2000, Waterfilling power control for CDMA 2000 have been applied.

• These schemes are compared using SISO, SIMO, MISO and MIMO techniques for both IS-95 and CDMA2000

(choosing M=2 and M=4) considering two cases 1) Full Channel Side Information (CSI) 2) Channel Side Information at

the Receiver (CSIR).

Communication between two Microcontrollers using interrupt based RS485 protocol

• This project explains about the implementation of RS485 bidirectional communication system. The project consists of

two separate designs – a controller and a peripheral mode.

• The controller provides a serial port to PC. The controller then outputs commands on a 4-wire RS-485 bus. The

peripheral node extracts information out of the asynchronous data stream and controls external devices. It will send

acknowledgements and sometime unsolicited message back to the controller.

Tools and languages used

• Learning this project, I have gained a good grip on my programming skills like C.

• I used to implement various skills using C that required for the project and through this learnt the structure of different

kinds of processors/controllers like ARM, LPC etc.

• Hands on experience on IDE versions like Keil and MP lab. With this interest, I moved further to learn another scripting

language, perl, which is a combination of C, C++ etc.

Implementation of Space Time Block Coding using Wireless Communications

• This project explains the improvement in the reliability of Wireless communications systems in multipath fading

environments using Space Time Block Coding.

• In this project, we have used 3 antennae schemes to obtain a considerable enhancement in BER with increase in SNR.

• Use of space time block codes enhances the coding gain during transmission and decreases BER simultaneously.

Technologies and protocols used

• During this course, I’ve learnt a lot about the latest technology and its architecture, LTE & CDMA. Here we learnt about

the evolution of LTE architecture, its evolution in the spectrum and bandwidth allocation.

• I came to know about multiplexing technology (OFDM) used in LTE, the benefits of MIMO introduced by LTE in the

telecommunication system and different way of frequency reuse in the spectrum.

• I also learnt the stages of evolution of LTE from GSM/CDMA (used in second generation).

Study of the Operation of the interface between the computer and the internet

• We will be observing the interaction between the computer and the modem while the computer attempts to register itself

on the local area network using Wireshark.

• Also, we will be observing the data and the packet transfer involved when the browser is used to open a webpage.

• Finally, we will observe the data transfer between the computer and the internet when the browser is used to play a short

video from a website.

Vehicle Speed Monitoring Using Wireless Communications

• Designed a system which monitors and controls the speed of a vehicle using GPS and Embedded systems.

• In this project we use a LPC2129 microcontroller which is an ARM7TDMI based. We will send commands to the GSM

modem as a message. Through GPS system, the controller receives the message and based on the message it will control

the PWM unit and changes the speed of the vehicle.
