Directly responsible for the global sourcing of a new Industrial Generator Business. New technologies,
negotiations, international sourcing, reverse auctions, and value analysis tools were employed to help optimize the
value throughout the supply chain. Early supplier involvement and contract negotiations helped to bring this
project in on time and within budget. Commodities of major emphasis include engines, alternators, radiators,
fabrications, controllers, switches, valves, electrical harnesses, and exhaust systems.
Championed the qualification and implementation of a worldwide wire harness supplier, which yielded a
35% cost savings while positioning IR for future value enhancements within the new product development
process.
Participated and collaborated with corporate centers of excellence in the area of plastics, electrical
components, motors, and bearings in order to benefit from synergies across all IR divisions.
Led the sourcing department in the new product development stage gate process for a $25 million rental
and construction program through the use of make vs. buy decisions, supplier selection, in-sourcing, and

NEWELL RUBBERMAID, Huntersville, NC 2001-2002
Director of Corporate Purchasing
Coordinated the Global Purchasing of Newell’s $350 million annual resin and plastic buy. The job consisted of
leading a team of sourcing professionals across all 12 divisions of Newell to leverage the buy and work with the
suppliers on value analysis and productivity initiatives. Suppliers were tasked with achieving satisfactory grades in
the areas of delivery, quality, payment terms, and productivity. International purchasing was improved by
leveraging negotiated corporate contracts. Free-markets and hedging were tools also used to achieve optimum
value across the supply-chain.
Achieved an $8 million annual savings through value analysis, negotiations, supplier consolidation, and
global purchasing.
Led a team of purchasing managers from Rubbermaid, Graco, Little Tykes, Sharpie, Levolor, Eldon, and
Calphalon to make decisions globally as it related to payment terms, logistics, and source of supply.
Organized and led a 2-day off site negotiation meeting with Chevron, Mobil, Exxon, BP, and Huntsman to

Manager of New Product Development Sourcing
This position directed Sourcing Engineers in the area of value analysis, new product development, and strategic
supply-chain management. New technologies, cost containment, and innovative logistics were all emphasized.
Worked as an Engineering/ Purchasing liaison. Opportunities were approached using data driven problem solving
techniques along with human relation skills. International travel and purchasing was used to increase the value in
specific commodity/process areas. New products were developed and introduced using cross-functional teams
consisting of members from marketing, engineering, quality, sourcing, finance, and manufacturing.
Spearheaded the design and implementation of a complete supplier value analysis program, which yielded

Staff Buyer/Value Engineer

engineering/analysis the quality, delivery, cost of existing and new products was enhanced.
Led sourcing in the design and manufacturing of an AC/DC electrical box in Mexico which yielded a 32%

Sourcing Engineer (1994-1997)
Worked on supply chain management, supplier consolidation, and supplier evaluation. Supported the supply base
with engineering and purchasing support and used value analysis techniques to realize a significant improvement
in cost and quality. Participated in manufacturing Kaizen events, which generated improvements in the area of
quality, inventory reduction, and lead-time reduction. Annual supplier conferences were held to share Harley’s
vision and create a partnership with the supply-base while holding them accountable for various purchasing
metrics. Clear and concise communication with the New Product Development team in Milwaukee allowed for
smooth transitions into model year changes.
Led a cross-functional team in the selection and implementation of a chemical management company,
which was able to save $4 million annually on chemical purchases.
Spearheaded a $10 million machining and stamping outsource program which consisted of accurate print
verification, tooling analysis, supplier qualifications, inventory control, and total cost of ownership

Participated in a Kaizen event for the process of welding motorcycle frames, which generated a 20%
