Major Project

Title : Designing and Finite Element Analysis of Internal Combustion Engine Piston

Objective: This project aims to design an internal combustion engine piston by using pro-e5.0 and

Finite Element Analysis is done under thermal loads.

Description:

Internal Combustion Engine refers to an engine in which combustion is intermittent. The Function of

I.C engine is to produce mechanical energy. Piston is one of the main part of Internal combustion

engines. Its Purpose is to transfer force from expanding gas in the cylinder to the crankshaft via a

piston rod or/and connecting rod assembly.

In Pro-Engineer5.0 we design the Piston of Mahindra Bolero Zlx Car with Appropri ate

dimensions and the model is designed by using two modules like Extrude and Revolve. After

completion of modeling the model is imported to Ansys Workbench12.0 and Meshing, Nodal Solution,

Thermal flux, Thermal Gradient are Clearly noted on Piston for the clear study of properties of piston

under thermal loads.

ii) Ansys 12.0 versions

Title : Study of Air Brake System in a Wide Gauge Diesel Mixed Traffic (WDM2) Locomotive

Description: The main Description of this project work is to understand the various components

present in Air Brake System and its Components of an engine used in Indian railways and to learn the

functions of individual components of this system. They are Compressor, Feed Valve, Relay Valve, Main

Reservoir, Compressor Governor and etc. This report also contains Information regarding how to have

a safe railcar management.

Title : Dam Door Control System based on Micro Controller

Description:

Automatic Dam door control system is based upon the concept of flow of water; the circuit measures

the discharge rate of conducting liquids, using this technology one can determine the total

consumption and total requirements of liquids in industries, water plants etc. The application is

enhanced to control the doors of dams. The speed of the opening and closing of the door is controlled

depending upon the flow of the water.
