PROJECTS Friction Stir Welding and Processing for Titanium alloys

Aim: to recycle Ti waste from machining operation and find new Ti alloy

• Welded CP Ti sheets, Ti 6Al-4V, Ti 15-3-3-3 and Ti 15Mo plates with different

welding parameters and consolidated CP Ti and Ti 15Mo chips into disc with

high strength.

• Performed metallographic, tensile and compression tests and analysis on welds

and consolidation disc.

• Developed a technique to distinguish CP Ti and Ti-15Mo in the consolidation

disc with high strength.

• Designed tested and analyzed the stress-strain curve of high strength consoli-

dation disc by using the subscale tensile tester and Digital Image Correlation.

2D bar stress and strain analysis by ANSYS

• Used AutoCAD to design the model and ANSYS to analyze stress and strain

distribution.

• Provided engineering recommendation based on the calculation results.

SKILLS Languages & Software: C++, Mathematica, AutoCAD, Pro E, CNC G code, ANSYS,

LabVIEW, DIC.
