Sorry this is not a proper resume, I am working on a full professional resume.
I just wanted to get this application in and hopefully get more information. I recieved my
CDL after attending CR England's truck driving school. I got my Permit in August, 2013,
Then graduated the school and got my CDL A on September 9, 2013. Was on the road
with a trainer and he wouldn't teach me anything, after an hour of me driving behind the
wheel, going over yellowstone he went to sleep. It was my first time driving not around a
familiar area and up/down grades. After a little over a month on the road, he wouldnt sign
off on my paperwork because he never watched me drive. I couldn't upgrade to solo, so
my uncle told me to get off his truck(he was only 10miles from where i was) in Kansas
City. My uncle let me drive, and within the first hour, i learned more then the entire time i
was in school and with my trainer.
I drove with my uncle for the next 3 weeks, i learned a lot and felt safe enough to drive on
my own after him teaching me. I then went to work for Western Express, I went out to
Fontana, CA and took their road test, i passed and they said because i had such little
experience i needed to go out with a trainer. I went out and the trainer was an alright guy,
but he smelled and was hard to understand him. He wouldnt drive his shift and loads kept
being late. When it came time to drop me off, they didnt have any trucks, and he never
filled out the book on my driving abilities. So i stayed out longer with him. After 4 weeks, i
went back to fontana, had my test and they didnt have a truck for me. Another driver was
going home for a family emergency, and i drove him home in his truck, then took it for
3weeks. After those 3 weeks, i picked him back up and we ran teams because there was
no available truck. He had some sort of rash or something and it kept making it very hard
to sleep, because he was getting it on my bed stuff. Anyway, after the whole time i was in
orientation, training and driving in the other truck. I never once got to make it home. I
asked to go home, and they fired me because of a Speeding ticket, When i was in Denver
my trainer woke me up to back into a spot, it was super tight, snowing and i was barelly
awake. I rubbed the mirror of another truck, didnt do any damage, just touched it with the
trailer.
So i left both of the company's i was driving for on bad terms, the Pay was terrible, and the
equipment i had to drive was not in good shape. There was stuff always breaking and they
woudln't fix it properly. I then came home, and my uncle was in the hospital, he had a lot of
medical issues. His company needed a driver and i called them. They hired me on as a
temporary driver to fill in when they needed someone. I drove for them almost 4 weeks, if i
could work for them i would, but their insurance would be very expensive to keep me so
they couldnt hire me untill i have 2 years experience.
Then it brings me to today. I am looking for a job where the pay is decent and they keep
me busy running 2,500 3,500 miles a week. I am asking for .34cents a mile, but if i have to
start a little lower untill they see i am reliable i understand. I would like something local or
possibly dedicated. I am more familiar with the western region and am prepared to run
western or even all 48. I can get my passport and make runs to alaska if needed, get my
haz mat, tanker, doubles and tripples, or anything needed. I am currently looking into
getting my forclift license so i can load and unload my own truck if i find a local job.
I have driven a 2012 Freightliner Cascadia(DD15, 10 speed eaton fuller transmission),
2009 Freighliner(not sure what kind, but 8speed eaton fuller transmission), 2011
Kenworth(10speed), 1986 or 1989 Mack(cat13, 13speed), 2010 Peterbilt 408(c13,
13speed)
Trailers 48foot Containers(dry and reefer), 53foot(dry and reefer)
1month with the containers
3months 53' dry
2 3months 53 reefer
I know how to move my tandems with the air button, or the lever to unlock and slide.
Depending on the trailer model, each hole you move is anywhre from 100 500lbs.
I can do a proper pre trip inspection on both the tractor and trailer. From the engine, in
cab, around the truck, suspension, brakes, tires, axels, fifth wheel, trailer, front, sides,
underneath, check the support bars, rivets, the kingpin, tandem lever, tires, suspension,
brakes, doors, all lights on tractor/trailer.
