Owned and managed the company. Responsible for all phases of a construction project.
Estimated the costs of materials and staffing; the expense involved in securing permits; and
the cost for equipment that must be leased or purchased. Based on the estimates, prepared a
budget for the project. Prepared a timetable that establishes milestones for phases of the
project to ensure completion dates are met. Hands on involvement in construction projects.
When needed, interacted with the architect who designed the project or the engineer who
developed the mechanical aspects of the project. Depending on the project, I might work with
other professional construction specialists or sub-contractors, such as landscape architects,
master electricians or demolition engineers. As owner and manager I had direct contact with
the client to keep him/her advised on progress and issues that might arise. I was responsible
for hiring and instructing new workers on the specifics of the job. Responsible for following
all of the laws and regulations that applied to the project. Responsible for all safety
regulations for various jobs and equipment operators and ensured that employees complied.

Read blueprints, instructions and design details submitted by customers, architects,
supervisors and other carpenters. Conducted a job layout, measuring, marking and ordering all
materials needed. Met stringent deadlines and all local building code requirements. Regularly
required to shape, mold, bend and custom fit molding and materials to difficult building
details. Responsible for submitting bids on jobs. This includes the cost of materials, time and
tools. Maintained the knowledge of the general cost and cost trends of the raw materials used,
including all natural and prefabricated materials. Worked with new carpenters and all other
construction staff. Some of these tools used on most jobs included a power miter saw, miter
box, handheld miter saw, tape measures, squares, angle gage, chisels, a router, a portable table
saw and a portable band saw.
