DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As QC (Welding Inspector):

. 1. Material Inspection

. Review / check mill certificate.

. Conduct visual and dimensional inspection on newly arrived

materials.

. Materials must be in proper places or storage, free from

cracks, oil, grease, and other discontinuities.

. Tags/Markings or stenciled heat numbers on the materials

should be properly inspected.

. Check the materials with respect to mill certificates that are

already approved by the Quality Assurance Engineer.

. Mill Certificates must be always available for review of the

Authorized Inspector or the Owners Representative.

. 2. Welding Inspection

. Before Welding

. Familiarization to applicable codes, standards or client

specification and also the approved drawings of the project.

. Check the welding documents such as approved Welding Procedure

Specification, Procedure Qualification Record and check all

information for all variable and range of approval for the

procedure.

. Check the variable for Welder Certificate and limits and the

history of employment.

. Check and monitor the joint preparation such as per

requirement of WPS and also the jig and fixtures for distortion

control.

. Check the condition of welding machine and the condition of

the welding cables, electrode holder; welding tools to ensure

all connection are correct.

. Check or review all the calibration certificates for all

measuring devices such as calipers, oven, and welding machine

including PWHT machines.

. Check the material size, type and condition of the materials

such as flatness and oval ness of pipe. Make sure to receive the

copy of mill certificate of the materials and must be genuine.

. Check the consumable size, type and condition such as

concentricity of flux covering and the treatment or storage and

handling of the electrode as per WPS and/or manufacturer's

recommendation.

. Check the requirement of preheat such as method of preheating,

the minimum temperature and inter pass temperature. Make sure

the heating rate is uniform and not localized heating.

. Check safety requirements.

. During Welding

. Check the weather conditions and avoid welding during rainy

day and provide adequate protection during windy situation.

. Check the welding position as per WPS used and correct welder

identification.

. Monitor the preheat maintenance by checking the minimum

temperature as per WPS used.

. Check the welding parameters used such as current, voltage and

travel speed as per WPS to avoid metallurgical effects on the

weldments.

. Check the consumable condition and storage.

. Check the inter pass temperature, recommended by the WPS.

. Check the inter run cleaning and check for the method of

cleaning whether by brushing or grinding and the type of tools

involve during cleaning.

. Perform visual on the root to ensure the welding produce a

sound root run.

. Check the removal condition allowed for distortion control

such as strong back, jig and fixtures such as 50% after

completion of weld.

. Check safety during welding.

. Maintain a log book daily.

. After Welding

. Check the cleanliness of the welded joints must be free or

remove from spatter, oil or grease and also check the welder and

joint identification.

. Perform visual inspections observe any defects, records any

defects and compare the size of the defect with the specified

code or standards.

. Monitor or witness the Non Destructive Testing activities for

the joint.

. Check or witness Post Weld Heat Treatment activities such as

heating rate, temperature attained, holding time and the cooling

rate as per procedure used. Check also the equipment before work

commences.

. Collate all documents involved during the fabrication and

submit to higher authorities.

In the event of repair

. Report to the immediate supervisor regarding the extent and

severity of the repair.

. Liaise with Engineer for the repair procedure.

. Marking of defective area for repair.

. Carry out the repair of welding as per procedure and repeat

all duties before, during and after welding.

. Witness the Non Destructive Testing if any.

. Collect the data and result and submit to immediate

supervisor.

As Piping Field Engineer:

. Performs inspection of installed module piping.

. Technical support to module construction team on site.

. Prepares field material requisitions (FMR).

. Coordinates with procurement on delivery of module piping

materials.

. Verification of module piping installation progress

. Responsible for ensuring accurate, timely and consistent

progress reporting.

. Prepare module piping work packs, compiles test packs, sign off

and witnessing testing.

. Updates module piping progress (Team works).

. Prepares piping as-built, perform line walk and prepares piping

Punch list.

. Supports People base Quality program.

. Raise and documents RFI (Request for Information), NCR, FCD

(Field Change Document).

As QC Inspector:

. Experienced in leading project inspection team, work planning,

and inspection procedures and testing preparation.

. Experienced in visual, dimensional and testing during pipe

spools fabrication, piping installation, test package

preparation and review, line checking/punch listing, leak

testing and pre-commissioning of piping systems.

. Experienced in different inspection procedures, welding

procedures, testing procedures, international codes and

standards and project specification as

Structural/Mechanical/Piping/Welding inspector, A Good team

player, able to work on its own initiative or as part of a team.

. Able to resolve non conformities with firm and justifiable

decisions, able to work under pressure effectively with good

problem solving skill and decision making skill.

. Familiar with non-destructive testing such as Radiographic (RT),

Liquid Penetrant (PT), Magnetic Particle (MT), Positive Alloy

Material Identification (PAMI), Ferrite (FT), Post Weld Heat

Treatment (PWHT), Holiday (pinhole detection) testing and Oil

Penetrant testing (OPT).

. Familiar with destructive testing such as Hydrostatic,

Pneumatic, Impact and Bend testing.

. Highly experienced in the preparations of various quality

control inspection reports and final documentation prior to hand-

over to the start-up or operation team for review.

As QC supervisor:

. Monitor Supervise the daily activities of the QC Inspector.

. Evaluate the performance of QC Inspectors.

. Coordinate With shop Engineer /Supervisor and Project Control

Head.

. Coordinate with other department and oversee the implementation

of Quality Control Program.

. To ensure that the inspection and testing has been carried out

in timely manner.

. Participate in the disposition in non-conforming items reported

by the QC Inspector.

. Liaise with the client representative and/or Authorized

inspector with the inspection and test schedule and other issue

related to quality.
