Work History:
1977 – 1979: Dairy Queen, Hereford, Texas where I took and filled orders and
efficiently ran cash registers while attending high school.
1980 – 1984: M. E. Moses & Co, Assistant Manager and General Manager. M. E.
Moses was at one time a retail store which would be considered a “dime store.”
While based in the Dallas area, there were many stores in smaller towns in the
Texas panhandle. I was hired as the Assistant Manager at the store in Hereford,
TX, and my duties included cash reconciliation, payroll, inventory control and
necessary human resource functions pertaining to the operations necessary in the
retail industry. In 1983 I was transferred to Borger, Texas to become the General
Manager of the location there. My responsibilities were inclusive and extended to
the ordering of merchandise, completion of credit memos for shortages from the
warehouse, along with scheduling and management of personnel.
1984 – 1986: McMorries & Company, Hereford, Texas. Job and duties included
mainframe computer operation, data entry, preparation and shipping of tax
statements and tax rolls, supervising up to 35 employees, preparation and
execution of payroll along with all human resource requirements for the company.
1986 – 1987: A. O. Thompson Abstract Company, Hereford, Texas. Job duties
included daily updating of filings from county clerk’s office, preparation of closing
statements and preparation of title insurance policies as well as performing
property title searches.
1987 – 1990: Security Land Title Company, Amarillo, Texas. Job duties included
preparation of title policies, closing statements, title searches and maintaining
record base.
1990 – 1993: Harrigan’s Restaurant, Amarillo, Texas. Job duties included waiting
tables, tending bar, training wait staff.
1993 – 1995: Gardski’s Restaurant & Bar, Amarillo, Texas. Job duties included
waiting tables, tending bar and training wait staff.
1995 – 1997: Hastings Entertainment, Amarillo, Texas. Job duties included but
were not limited to preparation of labor reports for stores, distribution center and
corporate offices; payroll data entry; training store managers and staff to document
human resource issues; provided human resource training to store management in
compliance with federal and state laws; performing employee terminations in
stores and store support center. Hastings had 136 stores in 17 states at that time.
From 1997 to 2002 I was not in the workforce due to a parent’s illness.
2002 – 2004: Toot ‘n Totum, Amarillo, Texas. Job duties included cash and
inventory control, store maintenance, ordering, monitoring gasoline tank levels,
retail sales, store staff scheduling, all functions related to management of
convenience stores.
From 2005 to 2010 I again had to take care of an ill parent.
2010 – 2012: Quality Wholesale Liquor and Quality Vending, Amarillo, Texas.
Responsibilities included filling wholesale liquor orders, counting monies received
from vending machine routes, logging sales, accounts receivable, accounts
payable, bank statement reconciliation, taking customer orders, resolving customer
complaints.
2012 – 2014: Whiskers Bar & Lounge, Amarillo, Texas. I was the bar owner for
the last two years the bar was open, during which time I tended bar, complied with
TABC guidelines, performed all bookkeeping duties as pertaining to state and
federal guidelines for the liquor industry, hired and terminated and disciplined
personnel, cash reconciliation, credit card statement reconciliations, filing of state
and federal taxes (sales, liquor and employment), and all other duties as necessary
in the bar business.
