BLAST FURNACES
Presently Head of Planning, Scheduling, Supply Chain and Technical Cell of Blast Furnaces Mechanical
Maintenance. Responsible for planning and procurement of equipment & spares of an annual total budget
of INR 41.5 crores (i.e. USD $ 6.92 million) for the financial year 2013-2014 and also of an annual budget of
INR 73.0 crores (i.e. USD $ 12.2 million) for the financial year 2014-2015. All execution through SAP.
Product designing, routing of manufacturing process keeping into account the product type, operational
sequence basic process and combination of operation. All execution through SAP.

Senior team member of the Blast Furnaces Production Team and accountable for the fulfilment of the
Annual Business Plan of the organisation with respect to Hot Metal production.
Operating Authority of all contractual execution within the area of control with respect to labour contract

Worked as in-charge of Blast Furnaces Top Charging Systems and Hydraulic Systems, of seven numbers of
Blast Furnaces from April 2012 to March 2013, with cumulative production of 15500 Metric Ton of Hot
Metal per day @1.65 productivity. Head of team and Reporting Authority of 3 executives and 73 technical
staff.
Specialisation in maintenance of Paulwurth, Luxembourg Bell Less Top (BLT) furnace charging systems,
Double Bell furnace charging systems, Blast Furnace equipment, Bosh Rexroth, Vickers-Eaton and Hydac
make hydraulic systems and equipment.
Pioneer of the designing and implementation of modification of the piston design of the Blast Furnace
Tapping Mudgun hydraulic cylinder, to eliminate the failure of the equipment.
Worked as shift in-charge of Mechanical Maintenance for seven numbers of Blast Furnaces from August
1992 to July 1995. Responsible for prompt liquidation of any stoppage of the Blast Furnaces, due to
stoppage of mechanical equipment. Reporting Executive for 49 technical staff.
SINTER PLANT
Worked as Head of Sinter Plant – 2, Mechanical Maintenance from December 2010 to March 2012,
producing 5150 Metric Ton of sinter per day. Reporting Authority for 5 executives and 61 technical staff.
Introduced the turn around concept from total Conditional Maintenance to an amalgamation of Preventive
Maintenance for Critical equipments and Conditional Maintenance for other equipments. This improved
the productivity of Sinter Plant -2 from 0.98 to 1.03 and also improved the quality of sinter.
Successfully modified the vacuum sealing system of the sinter machine and the sinter car to increase the
vacuum level from 800 mm of water column to 1050 mm of water column to drastically increase the
productivity of the sinter machine.
Operating Authority of all contractual operations with respect to labour contracts and maintenance
contracts for Sinter Plant-2 Mechanical Maintenance during the same tenure as Head of Sinter Plant – 2.
WIRE & ROD MILL
Worked as in-charge operation and maintenance of Wire & Rod Mill of Bhilai Steel Plant, from February
1998 to November 2010, which included three numbers of Pre-Finishing and Finishing Rod Mill with No-
Twist-Block along with the handling and packeting of the wire rods and re-bars.
Redesigned, erected and commissioned the cooling system for rolling of Thermo-Mechanically-Treated
(TMT) re-bars in Wire & Rod Mill of Bhilai Steel Plant, with a closed looped pressure and flow control
system to improve the quality and increase the yield by 2.1% of the TMT re-bars. This effort was recognised
by the prestigious Government of India National Award.
Conceptualised, redesigned and successfully introduced the rolling of TMT re-bars in the Old Russian Mill of
Wire & Rod Mill of Bhilai Steel Plant to have a higher Net-Sales-Realisation.
Project Team Leader and Key Driver for the retro fitting the Pre-Finishing rod mill, Finishing rod mill with
No-Twist-Block (NTB) and finishing & Handling equipment, technology transferred by Morgard – Shammar
& Danieli, Sweden. Successful in-time completion of the erection, commissioning and stabilisation of the
project with special modifications incorporated during the stabilisation stage to enable smooth running of
the mill. Modified the Morgard – Shammar, Danieli designed Universal Shear to reduce the crop end
cutting length of the roll stock from 3.8 m to 0.5 m and increase the yield of the production.
Worked as commissioning in-charge for the Hydraulic System and Pneumatic System of the prestigious
Long Rail Finishing and Handling Project of Steel Authority of India Limited, Bhilai Steel Plant, installed by
Voest-Alpine Pomini. Additional responsibility delegated to commission the Horizontal and Vertical Rail
Straightening machine in collaboration with SMS-Meer.
INTEGRATED CONTROL SYSTEMS (Automation)
Worked as team member of the automation group for developing logics and programming the
Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) for the Blast Furnaces Stoves and Charging operations from August
1995 to January 1998.
Conceived, designed, developed, erected and commissioned the PLC based Blast Furnace Stove Control
system for Blast Furnace – 02 of Bhilai Steel Plant.
