• Managed medical equipment maintenance software for 83 medical facilities, surgery centers

ALLEGHENY UNIVERSITY HOSPITALS (acquired by Tenet), Philadelphia, PA 1994 – 1998

Regional Manager, Clinical Engineering, (1996 – 1998)

Designed, coordinated, evaluated and managed the biomedical services of nine area hospitals.

• Oversaw 28 Biomedical Technicians, six Coordinators and one Manager. Promoted training for

diverse systems and resources that shortened repair turnaround time, and increased customer/staff

satisfaction.

• Reorganized structure of the Biomedical Engineering Department after merger of the Graduate and

Allegheny Medical Systems, increasing responsibilities from five hospitals to nine hospitals.

• Reduced working budget by $1M from the previous budget.

• Reduced duplication of parts through regional inventory; saved up to 20% of parts budget first year.

• Managed $4M budget for biomedical services and consistently stayed under budget.

• Reduced service contracts costs by $500K and implemented new regional service programs such

as: sterilization repairs, nuclear medicine, cardiology ultrasound, and vacuum and oxygen

regulators.

• Created and implemented an equipment management plan in accordance with the Joint

Assistant Director, Clinical Engineering, (1994 – 1996)

Designed, coordinated and managed biomedical services of five hospitals (Medical College of Pennsylvania, St.

Christopher’s Hospital, Hahnemann University Hospital, Bucks County and Elkins Park Hospitals).

• Member of safety committee and product standardization for all five hospitals. Participated in sub-

committee for monthly building inspections, increased awareness and reduced code violations.

• Implemented first paging system in the country for hospital patient medical alarms that resulted in

the savings of $1M per year.

• Maintained and participated in staff education programs through monthly electrical safety in-

services. Created biomedical engineering reference manual for medical staff. Manual was used in

all Allegheny Hospitals and served as guide for communications between Biomedical Department

and customers.

• Oversaw installation of new medical equipment and acted as a liaison between manufacturers and

hospital administration.

• Oversaw an on-going quality improvement process for all biomedical / clinical equipment in

conjunction with applicable regulatory agencies.

HAHNEMANN UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL (acquired by Allegheny), Philadelphia, PA 1989 – 1994

Assisted the Director and responsible for the services of the Clinical Engineering Department.

• Managed nine technicians while performing duties as a Biomedical Technician.
