PERSONAL
Learning to speak conversational Spanish w hile living abroad helped me
i nternalize the language learning process more fully. Watching my two youngest
siblings, recently adopted from Ethiopia, learn English has fur thered my
u nderstanding of the social/emotional experiences of ELLs . Additionally, I continue
to edit college papers for friends who are adult ELLs, challenging me to keep up with
my knowledge of advanced grammar and formatting rules.
