Work Experience
Current: Staying Well Practitioner - Community Psychiatric Nurse
Skills profile / Responsibilities: I work collaboratively with service
users to promote and develop self-management skills through implementation
and delivery of Staying Well Recovery and Crisis Plans, using the
philosophies of mental health recovery currently using WRAP plans as a key
component in my current practice. I achieve results in this field through
one to one work and also by devising and delivering group sessions.
I am confident and suitably experienced to administer depot medication
should the situation require.
I work closely with key partners to ensure mental well-being and recovery
is a targeted outcome and remains the focus of working partnerships. I also
act as a source of advice and assistance on mental health matters to
colleagues and partners as appropriate.
In my role it is essential that I employ my keen awareness of risk and am
confident in my ability to generate accurate risk assessments and
thereafter adopt imaginative and efficient strategies for the management of
those risks. A key part of this is the anticipation of the individual needs
of service users and facilitating the communication of the strategies to
relevant parties. I use the principle of positive risk management in regard
to day to day practice and also when transferring a service user to primary
care settings.
I routinely assess and anticipate individual needs of clients who are
experiencing crisis, taking appropriate action and communicating to
relevant agencies in relation to outcomes and onward care strategies.
I enjoy keeping up to date on latest research and advancements in mental
health recovery and share this with my co-workers and fellow team members,
offering mentoring and support to colleagues should it be appropriate.
I have relished in the opportunity to further develop working links with
other agencies, both within mental health and outside, to increase
knowledge of mental health issues, share information and develop
educational systems.
I evaluate, plan and implement client care needs in conjunction with the
service user, their carers and families, multidisciplinary team members and
representatives of other community and in-patient services.
I take particular reward from being able to offer support to relatives and
carers regarding service users' illness, management and outcomes.
I have the required clinical skills to fulfill my duties and deliver
service user focused practices, using recovery concepts which enable
service users to develop hope and to be empowered. In so doing I am always
cognizant of the importance that cultural diversity and equality is
embedded in all services being delivered.

symptoms of acute mental illness.
I believe actively involving carer networks aids accuracy enabling a user
