Kathleen Wingate BS, MLS (ASCP)
I am a results oriented, innovative, multi-talented, experienced Medical
Laboratory Scientist. I have excellent verbal and written communication
skills. I also enjoy research, and I am looking for a new opportunity that
will utilize these skills.
I am currently working in the Mayo Clinic Personalized Genomics Lab as a
Clinical Laboratory Scientist. PGL's clinical research has included
Pharmacogenetic Testing of CYP2C9, VKORC1 Alleles for Warfarin dosing. The
outcome of this research was reduced hospitalization. Other PGL testing
includes Cytochrome p450 enzyme polymorphisms, pharmacogenetic testing and
genetic testing.
In addition to Medical Laboratoy Science education, I earned a Molecular
Diagnostics Certificate from MSU, completed MSU course in Concepts in
Immunodiagnostics and Clinical Flow Cytometry, and also completed
Understanding Molecular Pathology from CACLME. I also recently completed
the Mayo Clinic Bronze and Silver Quality Certificates and Florida
licensure for Clinical Laboratory Scientist.
My background includes these experiences: multiple areas of the Clinical
Lab and in Hemostasis Research at the Loyola Medical School, in Industrial
Quality and Process Control, and in Secondary Science Education. I have
been trained in Immunology, Chemistry, Hematology and Blood Bank and
Molecular Diagnostics and Pharmacogenetics. I have successfully educated
others, participated in a Roche PCR HIV/HCV IND (Investigative New Drug)
and contributed in the FDA validation of the STA Coagulation Instrument. I
have also been very valuable in preparing for lab inspections due to my
quality control experience.
In the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Research Laboratory at Loyola Medical
School, I participated in Coagulation research of anti-thrombotic drugs.
This experience along with my Medical Laboratory Scientist education will
give me a good background to work in a variety of projects and areas. Also,
I always contribute positively to a team.
