Walter Energy is a publically traded multi-national mining company of coal with approximately $750-million in spend. Responsibility;

• Execute sourcing strategies for identified spend categories; developing the tool to identify spend within Oracle

• Direct process to select & manage suppliers (currently over 1000)

• Executed 25 to 30 Good and Services contracts to improve through put timing on construction and repair work within the

mines / This identified the primary suppliers to use

• Develop annual Procurement Department savings targets to be incorporated into the Company budget process

• $25M savings 2013 / $11M YTD 2014 with an addition $17M to be executed and ~$1.75M run rate each of the next 6-

quarters executed. We achieved $50M in savings and avoidance in 9-months (substantiated by Sr. Management)

• Manage key vendor relationships to deliver superior service, low cost, and high quality products and services.

• 30-yr cost per ton contract; renegotiated to pay-as-you go developing a savings of over $10M over the next 3-yrs

• Brought in a second source for the Mining Shearer producer and mining services – Yielded a $2.5M savings

• Participate in interdepartmental committees and work groups as assigned; collaborated to develop spec and standardize materials

for more competitive ability between suppliers (develop competition).
