Achievements

Diamondback Tactical (First Choice Armor & Equipment Inc.) – Spindale, NC

Traveled for 9 months (August 2006 – April 2007) between Rhode Island and North Caroline to develop,

implemented and execute Inventory Control Department at Spindale, NC location once company moved

plant from Massachusetts. In MA the company didn’t have an automated inventory process it was all

maintained manually on excel spreadsheets. Within 4 months I was able to create a well structured

plan that included the hiring of department Manager and Material Handlers as well as engineering a

plan for mapping of structural materials requirements needed to house inventory within a warehouse

that also housed a cutting room as well as a receiving and shipping department. The area would be

indentified by product, sectioned by product resulting in easy movement from receiving of product,

pulling of materials for in house production and also outside sourced production. In addition to the

structural process there were also processes and procedures that were developed as the foundation for

the execution of the department and how it would be conducted on a daily bases. Including the record

keeping of documentation, accurate reporting and records such as requisitions, inventory cycle

counting, corrective actions for variances and the maintaining of all inventory reporting. A calendar for

quarterly inventories including vendor shipping requires, cutoff dates for received and shipped product,

hospitalization of product received after cutoffs as well as the coordination of planned production to

guarantee no stops in production that could possibly delay customer needs and targeted delivery dates.

All needed to be completed and preformed correctly in preparation for company’s first audited physical

year end inventory in new locations for 2007. Processes and Procedures for the overall coordination of

Year End inventory including planning for proper staffing, pre preparations, mapping out and labeling

layout of inventory areas, inventory cutoff calendar, coordination within manufacturing to ensure

continuous production flow through shipping of orders as well as receiving of raw materials. Guidelines

and process for walk through with bank auditors for sheet to floor and floor to sheet audits, justification

and/or reconciliation of all inventory variances and updating company files reflecting final Year End

figures.

o Results being first non audited Physical Year End Inventory in Company’s existence bring a

company saving of $300,000, which was what was spent on the previous year’s 6 months

audited Physical Year End Inventory. There was also a Company’s savings on manpower and

hours being eliminated once inventory became live online and automated with computer system.

There had also been improvements and savings in overall workflow from receiving of raw

material to shipping of finished product and all operations in between with results being overall

company savings on payroll, returns and quick response to reorders.

Knights Apparel Inc. – Spartanburg, SC

Developed and streamlined excel spreadsheet template used between Merchandising Department,

Sourcing Department and Financial Department for purposes of overall process involved from line

conception to finalization and margin approval eliminating 3 separate spreadsheets passed from

department to department. Once a spreadsheet was used from conceptions of product line for sourcing

and pricing, to margin approval with all updates, changes and product drops resulting in missing

information and constant maintenance of information from fabrics to formulas was streamlined to a

template with formatted formulas populating repetitive information and automated changes once

information was updated.

o Results of this tool ensured eliminating duplications and numerous errors with incorrect

information, better control of sourcing and pricing, quicker turnaround time for margin approval to

determine a profitable business decision. Report could also be used for historical data from

season to season to determine if an item should or can be added for quick production turnaround

profitably. All increased time management, individual productivity increasing equaling company’s

investment well spent.

Achievements

Knights Apparel Inc. – Spartanburg, SC

Developed generic form used for inventory movement within organization in regards to moving materials

needed for production to outside contractors. A process that had been done by a face to face approach

resulting in missed communication between individuals and department such as Material Control,

Production Planning and Inventory Control. Now a generic form would be used which indicated a date

and time stamp that was communicated electronically via company email to all departments involved

with a reasonable time requirement.

Results of this tool eliminated many errors in movement of inventory, correct and incorrect

o

inventory counts making for quick response to corrective action of variances in inventory figures.

A direct impact on department heads accountably for inconsistencies in regards to process and

procedures and how they are to be followed and updated. Again, increased time management,

individual productivity increasing equaling company’s investment well spent.
