Objective
To acquire cross-functional expertise within supply chain, logistics and operations and leverage that knowledge to develop high quality products.
Experience
Manufacturing Engineer September 2011 to Present
Danfoss Power Electronics
Working within the Global Supply Chain Technology group on product introduction projects.
* Managed a cross-functional team within the supply chain department to provide business case input – risks, schedule and budget for a customized project.
* Design lean manufacturing setups for new products with safe and ergonomic work methods. Assembly cell layout design and optimization.
* Capacity planning based on sales forecast.
* Budgeting for capital expenses and tracking expenditure.
* Define equipment specifications and work closely with suppliers for equipment purchases and installation.
* Approve PPAPs and work with suppliers to address component quality issues.
* Work with production engineers to provide input at the development stage to ensure the product is designed for ease of assembly and lies within manufacturing process capabilities.
* Develop and track work package estimates as an input to the project schedule.
* Support prototype builds and request engineering changes to aid assembly.
* Working with Market Quality group to address field failures through RCPS using 8D methodology or 4-step problem solving.
* Involved with the Rockford Public Schools to increase awareness regarding careers in engineering and volunteered for United Way events.
Manufacturing Engineering Intern February 2011 to August 2011
Danfoss Power Electronics
Supported a Supply Chain Technology project to merge 2 product lines and increase throughput by automating non-value adding processes
* Conducted time motion study and balanced the line to reduce cycle time and increase throughput per shift from 8 to 12 units.
* Validated impact of adding assembly stations on throughput by running simulations in ARENA.
* Setup parts replenishment process for the assembly line.
Project Intern, Operations January 2009 to May 2009
Cummins Power Generation Business Unit
Proposed improvements for generator set assembly line to reduce lead-time by 15 minutes.
* Conducted time study and created an operator movement map to highlight non-value adding activities in the process.
* Identified bottleneck station and proposed changes in workload at each station to balance the line.
* Developed a program with a GUI to balance workload on a line using a precedence map and capacity constraints.
Additional Projects
Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Project
Adopt DMAIC methodology to improve process of torque control and torque verification in order to minimize failures due to loose connections during electro-mechanical assembly process.
Design for Assembly
Conducted the Boothroyd Dewhurst analysis on a new product to identify design efficiency and outline methods to resolve potential quality issues at the design stage itself and developed a DFA guideline for design engineers.
