o Performed method development in analyzing for the artificial sweeteners saccharine and
aspartame in beverages as well as analyzing for caffeine and benzoic acid content. A two part
mobile phase solvent system was used with a C18 column and a UV-VIS detector.
• Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry-A SPE Method (Undergraduate Research)
o Pesticides were searched for in various local honeys by using a GCMS for analysis. The honey
samples were prepared by separation through a solid phase extraction (SPE) column. The flow
through was collected from the SPE column and analyzed by the GCMS. Selective ions were
used to identify pesticides within the samples.
