Warehouse Worker
Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:
As an AAFES employee I was selected to be the only full time employee in the warehousing and
receiving section with full benefits package. Further I have been entrusted to be the only firearms
receiving specialist with full certification and FBI background clearance. Among my duties I
process all firearms in a timely manner in a controlled environment per current federal guidelines.
The sale of firearms has been classified as a special program; my duties ensure they are
accounted for within an AAFES inventory control system (ASAP) and I issue a critical card once
they are classified as stock on hand. I calculate accurate cost and sell (pricing) for every firearm
to ensure it is up to date. My duties require that I immediately notify vendors and management of
any cataloging or discrepancy related issues as it relates to receipts or missing merchandise.
In addition, I receive all merchandise sold at the Hill AFB Main Exchange and am responsible for
ensuring it is stored within the warehousing section. I verify that inventory control counts are
correct, accurate and without damage. My responsibilities include setting pricing on all inventory
as it arrives to the store, applying pre-set percentages to each item depending on category. When
a discrepancy is identified I notify the proper authorities and work towards a mutually agreed upon
solution as it relates to defective and or damaged merchandise. I perform analysis in various
databases when purchase orders are inaccurate or merchandise fails to scan in our ASAP
systems. Current guidelines require that I notify AAFES Headquarters on status of all inventory
related issues and work with various vendors for resolution. Upon receipt of urgently needed
inventory I notify store personnel of availability so stock can be moved out to retail shelves for
sale. My position requires that I work closely with inventory control associates to identify gaps in
support at other locations; I then process appropriate actions for either storage and or distribution
to fill those requirements. I am sought out to participate in all wall-to-wall inventory scans and am
a member of the recount team when there is an accuracy issue within the store. My interpersonal
skills have culminated in management requests that I train new employees on proper procedures,
documentation, safety and industry procedures as it relates to receiving merchandise into the
warehouse. I have been certified on propane, electric and stand-up forklifts. I have been
presented with performance awards during each appraisal. Further I have received awards for
"growing sales", proficiency, and dedication for the AAFES Management Team. I was also
recognized by the Commander of AAFES, BG Thurgood, for excellence on two separate
occasions; a first for an Ogden employee.

Early Morning Stocker
Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:
I was hired as a stocking associate upon my arrival to Hill AFB. My work ethic and creative ideas
resulted in management giving me total autonomy in the planning, development and execution in
regards to all merchandise within my section. My plan resulted in increased profitability for the
store that had previously never been attained. Among my duties was to perform the necessary
analysis needed to identify top sellers within my inventory and convey that information to
inventory control associates. Based on these sales I would institute revised planning to ensure
visibility and access to these high demand assets. My duties were not only to keep sales floor
fully stocked at all times but to ensure my area in the stockroom could be easily accessible to any
other associate looking for a particular item, by mirroring sales floor layout on stockroom shelves
this was achieved. My success in this area culminated in a promotion to an area that was
operating at a less than optimal state. My new assignment was an area that store management
could not find anybody willing to putting the necessary effort needed to turn it into an exemplary
area within the store. Within a very short time management expressed their pleasure in the
appearance of store shelves and increase in sales. I would ensure proper placement of inventory
on sales floor and as needed indentify all expired merchandise on store shelves and remove for
proper disposal. My customer service skills were consistently among the best within the store and
I was consistently sought out by both customers and management to assist in a wide variety of
issues. A visit by AAFES Commander culminated in my receiving a commander coin based on my
sections profitability, appearance and described as, "best I've seen in my command". I was
selected by management to perform interim supervisory duties when there was a leadership gap
to ensure all other employees were performing at optimal levels. As a result of my work in these
two areas I was promptly promoted to the warehouse where I still work today.

Duties, Accomplishments and Related Skills:
As primary stocker I was responsible for stocking all merchandise sold in the store including
music, books, video rentals and sale and various accessories. I was solely responsible for
receiving and preparing all the new release video every week. I participating in all weekly
inventory scans as well as purging (removing outdated merchandise) from store shelves to be
returned to the Hastings warehouse. As employees would leave I would absorb more
responsibilities to include setting up special feature displayed for weekly promotional
merchandise. Utilize store end caps and perimeter walls throughout the store. I received several
honorable mentions in the company newsletter for my store sets and inventive cross
merchandising techniques. I would oversee the training of all new stockroom employees, making
sure that they had all their mandatory training done. As my experience marketing grew I was
allowed to edit and tailor the weekly Hastings shipment to better meet the needs of Hastings

and self efficient because there were many months when I had to be my own supervisor.
