Work in the stock room and on the sales floor restocking the sales inventory.
• Use team work with my fellow associates to make sure the floor was stocked at all times.
• Communicate with my fellow associates to make sure we were not stocking the same sections on the floor.
• Prioritize my time to make sure the better selling or empty sections always got filled first.
• Use goal setting to accomplish daily tasks such as taking down and setting up displays or keeping displays
fully stocked.
Portland State University Senior Capstone,
Celly, Portland, OR March 2013 – August 2013
Celly is a Portland based mobile social networking company. Their website can be found at cel.ly. I worked on a team with
4 other students. Celly requested a bookmarklet which would work on all the major browsers simplifying the messaging
process. Our bookmarklet grabbed the current url of the web page and put it in a text area. The user then could pick the
contacts or “cells” to send the text too. You see more about our process on http://portlandstatecapstone.wordpress.com/.
My contributions to the project were:
• Designed the GUI.
• Tested the JavaScript using NodeUnit.
What I learned:
• Communication skills are essential to be a productive team member.
• Setting goals with a team in much harder that it sounds.
• How to use git with a large group working on code simultaneously.
• How to prioritize my time to make sure I accomplish my personal goals on time.
• Ascertaining requirements from a user can be a difficult and communications skills are essential.
• It is not always possible to accomplish what you think you can at the start of the project.
