Profile
Began employment at Control Data Corporation in Rapid City, working as an
Electronic Test Technician for approximately 11 years. Control Data Rapid
City facility and business was sold to SCI (an electronics contract
manufacturer). Continued working as an Electronic Test Technician for
approximately 10 more years, then had an opportunity to fill a position
(for 1 year) in return goods which evolved the disposition of returned
product and creating rework instructions. Moved on to fill a position, for
3 years, as a Quality Engineer Tech. Then pursued a position in supplier
quality as a Supplier Quality Engineer, in that position took on the
responsibility of the failure analysis lab. At that time SCI merged with
Sanmina (another electronics contract manufacturer) and the company named
changed to Sanmina-SCI. After six years as a Supplier Quality Engineer,
business started to decline and a lay-off of 104 employees (most with 24
to 36 years of service) occurred on August 24, 2007, ending my nearly 31
years of service with this organization. From there until present, moved on
to a position with GE medical as a field engineer working on diagnostic
imaging equipment
Experience
Diagnostic imaging field ENGINEER:
Primary responsibilities included networking, calibrating, repairing and
preventive maintenance of GE x-ray, CT, MR and ultrasound diagnostic
imaging equipment.
supplier Quality engineer/ FA lab TECHNICIAN :
Primarily responsible for working with suppliers on all quality issues
related to assigned commodities. My primary commodities were PWB (board
blanks), purchased assemblies and power supplies. Also track PWB revisions
and supply qualified vendors with the most recent Gerber data. The
appropriate disposition of defective commodities, to ensure proper
corrective action and reimbursement if needed. FA lab responsibly consist
of cross section, dye testing and push/pull data analysis. CCD camera
mounted on a microscope linked to a video capture board was used to
document visually the defects.
qualitiy Engineering Tech:
Primarily responsible for providing manufacturing support on quality
issues, generating customer required reports and being a customer contact
point for any quality related concerns.
RMA disposition & process technical WRITER:
Using customer engineering drawings and related ECO data (engineering
change order) to create detailed written rework & repair instructions for
returned product. Also was responsible for the disposition of return
product to appropriate areas for repair and upgrade.
test technician / group leader :
Began employment with Control Data Corporation as a Grade 3 Test
Technician. Responsible for test and repair of assigned products and
meeting schedule requirements. Promoted to Grade 7 Test Technician Group
Leader in 1983 on 3rd shift (graveyard shift). As a group leader I was
responsible for shift start up work assignments and meeting product
schedule numbers needed each day. Also responsible for new hire training
and assisting other Test Technicians assigned in troubleshooting and
repairing of the more difficult or troublesome product test failures in
order to meet product build schedule requirements. After about 12 months in
this position all areas of operation on the graveyard shift were eliminated
and I returned to first shift as a senior technician.
