06 Project Name ATCHKSTR (WP1 Covers Geometry & WP9 Ribs Geometry

Support)

Company Infosys Technologies Ltd

Client ATKINS, UK

Description of the project

The project involves data collection activities. The data collected

shall be used for static and F&DT Checkstress analysis of the

A380-800 main wingbox covers and spars, and in particular with

regards to skin overhang widths and fwd & aft skin panel widths.

Task 1: Data collection of skin overhangs and skin panel dimensions.

Provision of true length of the skin line (i.e. taking account of

curvature) as follows:

from the spar datum to the skin edge.

from the spar datum to the first skin to spar bolt.

the separation between the aft-most stringer bolts to the fore-most

rear spar bolt.

the separation between the fore-most stringer bolt and the aft-most

front spar bolt.

Task 2: Data collection of Stringer bolting positions.

As part of the static and F&DT Checkstress analysis of the A380-800

covers there is a requirement to identify the location and size of a

large number of bolting positions. We Provide following parameters of

fasteners from CAD model:

Pitch

Edge distance.

Distance from stringer datum.

Panel Thickness.

Runout dimensions (Flange width, Flange Thickness etc.)

Task 3: Check of ICAD & DFM Data

As part of the static and F&DT Checkstress analysis for A380-800,

main wingbox metallic ribs Cabot Design (Cabot) have created a

database of rib geometry data which has been populated with

information from ICAD and DFM sources.

Task is to validate the geometry data within this database against

the CADDS 5 solid model. This will validate the accuracy of both the

initial transfer of CADDS 5 information into ICAD & DFM, and the

transfer of ICAD & DFM data into Cabot's database.

Task 4: Provision of non-ICAD and non-DFM Data

The Cabot database is not complete, as few rib geometry do not have

ICAD and DFM sources. We measure the CAD model and update the

database.

Task 5:Provision of Spar to Rib connection Data

Provision of X and Y distances of bolt centre for outboard and

inboard forward ribs as follows:

Outboard rib connection to front spar.

Outboard rib connection to rear spar.

Inboard fwd rib connection to front spar.

Inboard fwd rib connection to centre spar

Inboard aft rib connection to rear spar

Provision of parameters X, SL, B, L2, and D for inboard aft rib

connection to centre spar.

Role : Module Lead

Responsibilit : Customer Interaction.

y Migration of CADDS 5 solid model to Catia V5.

Measurement and data collection of skin overhang and

skin panel dimensions from Catia V5 model.

Measurement and data collection of covers fastener

map dimensions from Catia V5 model.

Verifying geometry data against the Catia V5 model

of skin.

Review of skin overhang database and Fastener Maps

database.

Duration : From: Aug-2004

To: Dec-2004
