Marine Mechanic/ Machinist
Experienced with machinery components including: hydraulics, pneumatics,
electrical systems, valves, and piping systems. OEM installation, repair,
diagnostics, inspection, overhaul of various engine manufacturers
including: MTU, Caterpillar, EMD, MANN, NIAD, ALFA-LAVA, GE, Rolls Royce,
Kamewa. Produce parts within extreme tolerance for aerospace, medical
applications, and yacht components. Excellent math skills required for
conversions of fractions, thousandths, standard to metric. Use manual
lathe, horizontal and vertical mills. In-place boring of stern and rudder
tubes for installation of throdon bearings.
Specialized experience in main propulsion systems standard drives, z-
drives, jet drives and surface piercing drives, piping layouts, gas/steam
turbines, inspection and overhaul of main engines, reduction gear, thrust
bearings, CPP systems, propeller removal & bluing, bow thruster and
retractable thrusters, zero speed stabilizer systems, main shaft alignments, boilers, centrifuges, and marine waste systems. Qualified in overhaul and
inspection of all deck machinery including: hydraulics, pneumatics,
electrical, winches, cranes, steering systems, anchor windlass, capstans,
and valves. Elevator installation and helicopter refueling station,
desalination plants, on-demand generator systems.
Experienced with docking and launch processes including dry-docks and
lifts. Perform dock side repair following all environmental safety rules.
Perform sea-trials of ships equipment and mechanical systems. Lead
mechanical crew member on deliveries of yachts to Ft. Lauderdale, Miami and
the Bahamas. Completed certification training course for Shipyard
Competent Person.

Drive tug boats. Outfitting team is responsible for all propulsion systems,
mechanical installations, hydraulic doors, cranes, thrusters, elevators and
various pumps and motors. Supervise crew of up to 50, including time
reporting, managing budgets, verification of safety procedure, and ensuring
work quality is acceptable. I conduct personnel interviews, hiring,
reviews, discipline, and terminations following Human Resources guidelines.
As a supervisor of a diverse group, I have turned this department around,
by building teams, and putting the right personnel on the right job. My
project hours have consistently been under budget. Adhere to ABS and NAVSEA
standards, including interaction with inspectors..
