Final Year Academic Project:

Project Title: Design of Mechatronic valve circuit to prevent the wastage

of water:

Tools used: Solidworks,

Team size: 4 members.

Roles: I was the head of our team. I got the idea from our hostel itself by

observing the wastage of water. I and my friends planned about this project

to minimize the wastage of water. I took responsibilities of our project

and started the work. With the help of my lectures and friends we are

successful in the completion of the project. As a team leader I was happy

about the project.

Project description: The main aim of this project is to prevent the wastage

of cold water in lodges, apartments, hostels, etc. We are taking example of

water being wasted in case of bathing. The water is heated up in water

heater. When we switch ON the tap, we will get cold water which is already

present in the pipe instead of hot water. Normally, this water is wasted.

Hence in order to prevent this type of wastage, we have designed a

mechatronic device.

The device includes temperature sensor, valves and

circuit. The device is placed before the tap. There will be a manual switch

to set the required temperature by the user. When the water enters the

device, it will be sensed with the help of sensor. If the sensed water is

below required temperature then the water will be recycled. If the

temperature is more than or equal to required temperature then the hot

water will be directly sent to the tap. Here the valves are used to

separate the cold water and hot water.

The outcome of the project is that we can save liters of

water per day which will be useful in future.
