OBJECTIVE A position in the field of Materials Science and
Engineering
WORK
EXPERIENCES Quality Inspector, Quality Control Department
Chongqing Lite High Technology
Company, Chongqing, China
* designed formula of ceramic firing.
* controlled scale of material powders to meet the requirement
* Took charge of inspecting hardness, cracks and density of ceramic cutting
tool.
* Used equipment to eliminate unqualified products and avoid cost of the
company
* Used silicon carbide whisker reinforced alumina(SiCw/Al2O3) composite as
cutting tool inserts for high-speed cutting of suoeralloys. Commonly, the
volume fraction of SiCw is 30-45%, and they made by hot processing.
PROJECTS Glass and Ceramics based high-temperature composite
materials
* In this project, promising high-temperature glass ceramic and ceramic
composite materials developed by the Sol-Gel method. The Sol-Gel method
gives initial materials of high purity and a homogenous product, permits
regulating the microstructure of the materials at the initial stage of the
process and has a low energy-intensiveness of the technological operations.
SiC-SiC composite ceramic materials were investigated at 1600-16500 C<->800-
850 C more than 7000cycles(1 cycle=1 min) without fracture. The density of
the high-temperature glass-ceramic and ceramic composite materials is 2-4
times lower than that of metallic alloy.

Carbon Nanotubes (CNT) Fiber Strength and
Its application
* In this project, we learned Nanotube growth methods like CVD; structural
properties and growth techniques of CNT are presented briefly and Young's
Modulus, tensile strength, failure processes and mechanisms of CNT are
compared with other fiber materials and applications of CNTs in various
fields -- in Biotechnology application like drug delivery and cancer
therapy, traditionally cathode ray tubes are used but recently more focus
on using carbon nanotubes, CNT concrete and Bridges.

Preparation and Characterization of
Nanoparticle Reinforced Polymer-based Nanocomposites
* In this work, first I investigated polycarbonate (PC)/multiwall carbon
nanotube (MWCNT) nanocomposites were prepared by simple melt mixing, the
thermal property and storage were improved with the incorporation of
slightly MWCNTs content; second, basalt fibre(BF) and multiwall carbon
nantotube reinforced polymid 6 mixed system were presented, the tensile
modulus increases until 1 mass% MWCNT content and BF increases the tensile
modulus considerably. Third, I focus on how the nanoparticle(NP) shape on
the mechanical properties of polymer nanocomposites(PNC). I compared PNCs
containing spherical, triangular, and rod-like nanoparticles, these systems
are both containing 15% loading, the results showed that the rod-like NPs
give the best reinforcement, followed by the triangles and the spherical
nanoparticles; finally, a cryogenic ball-milling process to produce
polymer/CNT nanocomposites was investigated, linear low density
polyethylene was used as the matrix material and 1 wt% of multiwalled
carbon nanotubes(MWCNT) was used as reinforcement, the result showed that
an increase of up to 28% in the elastic modulus with respect to the matrix
was gained.

Synthesis and Characterization of
ZnO thin film grown by electron evaporation
* Almost single phase ZnO films have been deposited by simple e-beam
evaporation method, and the deposition parameters were optimized. The film
were prepared by evaporation of ZnO at different substrate temperatures and
evaporation of ZnO at room temperature and subsequent annealing of the
films in oxygen ambient at different temperatures. The characterizations of
the film were performed by resistivity measurement, transmission electron
microscopy(TEM), x-ray diffraction measurement(XRD), FTIR spectra, Raman
spectroscopy. Absorption spectra revealed that the films were highly
transparent and the band gap of the pre-and post annealed films was in good
agreement with the reported values. The band gap of the films increases on
increasing the substrate temperature as well as annealing temperature,
whereas the resistivity of the film decreases with substrate temperature
and increases with annealing temperature.

Design of plastic product by Autodesk
Moldflow
* The car door handle was designed and created by Auto CAD. We use the
Autodesk Moldflow to analyze and optimize the part. The ABS was chosen that
is the optimal material for car door handle. Then the best gate location
was output from moldflow. Next the cooling channels were designed and
installed for cooling the part. The injection mold process and properties
for car door handle were researched by a progression of analyses. Weld line
location, air trap location, skin orientation, part shrinkage, and part
warpage were investigated. Lastly, optimization of gate location to enhance
quality of product.

Apply R software to find a fit model
through data mining
* The project is to help a growing information system company plan for a
new branch office in a Midwest city in the US. The goal is to give this
company some cost ranges on the various features of the space that the
company lease. The available data are from 225 rental contracts signed over
the last two years. The data set for this project includes 21 variables.
