• As Broward County’s Educational Services Coordinator for the Sun-Sentinel, created and developed numerous highly successful programs
resulting in significantly increased circulation. Wrote innovative, educational, and fun curriculums which were enthusiastically received. Met
specific learning objectives and provided effective design and materials for implementation.
• Facilitated sales presentations and after-purchase training workshops for Silver Burdett Ginn with administrators and teachers . Demonstrated
and sold product features, directly resulting in sales of $10,000, and increased customer effectiveness in after-purchase training workshops.
• Worked closely with key educators and administrators such as Barbara Shapley, former Florida Department of Education Mass
Communications Specialist, and numerous local professionals. Co-authored and independently wrote several comprehensive curriculums on
language development, science and math, multi-cultural issues and others, utilizing the newspaper as a teaching tool. Within an eighteen
month period, circulation increased 250% attributed, in part, to these programs.
• Researched and developed an imaginative trainer’s handbook. Guide provided exercises and curriculum ideas which allowed educators to
easily incorporate materials from workshops into their own programs.
• Trained individuals of diverse backgrounds, utilizing adult learning techniques and customizing programs to meet their needs.
PUBLIC RELATIONS / MARKETING
• Received the Sun-Sentinel’s “Pride Award” August 1991, March 1999, and December 2001, for job responsibilities including:
Creating marketing plans for existing curriculums, developing and conducting teacher training workshops, as well as community
involvement activities and public relations.
• As Community liaison for the Sun-Sentinel, sat on the Board of Directors for Kids Voting Broward; as well as the Advisory
Council for the Broward Grandparents program.
• Within eight months as Educational Sales Consultant for Silver Burdett Ginn, increased revenue from private schools in tri-county
area by $50,000 through cold calling and lead follow-up. Developed sales presentations/demonstrations to explain products to
administrators and teachers.
• Selected by manager to oversee exhibits at three educational conferences for Silver Burdett Ginn. Identified potential customers
and demonstrated products. Generated qualified leads for follow-up.
• Represented Sun-Sentinel at county-wide functions for professional trainers and educators. As community liaison, networked and
represented the organization with educational administrators, curriculum specialists and teachers. Credited with improving
communications between community and the newspaper.

• Within the Sun-Sentinel Educational Services Department, brainstormed advertising and marketing ideas for new/ existing
programs. Wrote ad copy for brochures and newspaper display ads, generating interest and educational newspaper sales. Handled
all aspects of workshop and conference preparation, including ordering all pertinent materials, booking speakers and coordinating
workshops.

• As certified Gesell School Readiness Screening Examiner, regularly called on to administer this critical screening instrument. Evaluated
results to determine emotional and developmental maturity of children for accurate placement.
