MIPRO CONSULTING 02/07 – 04/13

Director, Human Resources

As the first HR Director for this start-up company, I developed the Human Resources Department. I managed the relationships

with Delivery, Operations and Finance, and researched and wrote all HR plans and policies relating to people management at

every phase. As is the case in many small-to-medium organizations, my role also encompassed many tasks far outside the

typical HR range. My accomplishments include:

• Brought Human Resources “to the table” to participate in strategic planning and development with senior management.

• Developed meaningful and worthwhile performance assessment/talent management system, which eliminated the boring

and often useless annual review process and replaced it with a working tool which allowed individual goal setting and

ongoing performance discussion between manager and employee.

• Developed employee on-boarding process. Successful on-boarding led to better assimilation of employees into MiPro

culture. An effective and efficient on-boarding process addresses both the tactical and strategic elements of on-boarding

and also sets the stage for further employee and corporate gains.

• Oversaw payroll processing. Went from 3 different vendors and systems to one comprehensive system which allows both

HR and Finance to easily access necessary reports.

• Negotiation of health, disability, life and accident insurance policies. Roll out of open enrollment to employees, including

all meetings and processing. Successfully reduced cost of both health and workers’ comp insurance, and capped

disability costs by entering into a multi-year contract.

• Managed employee relations. Since 90% of staff worked remotely, this involved understanding each employee

individually and recognizing their preferred style of communication. Oversaw quarterly Town Hall meetings to ensure that

off-site employees felt “in touch” with corporate office and vital financial and client information was shared on a regular

basis, in a format and at a time that was convenient.

• Oversaw and approved all employee training. Each consulting employee is allotted 40 hours per year for professional

training; I work with each employee to find training possibilities and make recommendations to managers about training

needs.

• Developed compensation system, including writing job descriptions, review of salary surveys and development of

incentive compensation, salary minimums, means and maximums for each position.

• Responsible for all meeting and conference arrangement, including transportation, negotiation and arrangements with

hotel for lodging, food and meeting space. Every meeting, from luncheon event to weekend getaway for entire staff, was

smooth and seamless.

• Directed staffing process, including resume review, scheduling of interviews, travel arrangements, reference checking,

development of offer and offer letter. Manage negotiation process.

• Successfully handled all employee terminations and guided managers through the process.

JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT 09/05 – 11/06

Director, Programs and Volunteers

In this role, I managed the implementation and expansion of JA programs, directed all recruiting, training and program

management, monitored all programs for adherence to models and quality maintenance, managed the marketing to all education

customers and consultants, and developed budget and yearly planning calendar for all program and volunteer activities. Also

acted as chief program liaison to Board of Directors. My responsibilities included:

• Directed all activities of Program staff, including procuring funding through civic organizations, recruiting and renewal of

commitments of schools/teachers and business leaders in order to secure top caliber consultants and maintain program

quality.

• Together with Marketing Committee, developed, implemented and evaluated the Area marketing plan.

• Developed a budget for all programs and program-related activities and a yearly calendar for the Program Department

that included timetables, procedures and responsibilities to be accomplished. Implemented a plan to coach and develop

skills of Program Managers and administrative staff.

• Managed program quantity and quality; assured consultant recruiting and retention through individual renewals and

company liaisons. Developed and managed/implemented training programs and training evaluation. Managed the

placement and scheduling of trained consultants. Solicited feedback from participants through a final evaluation

instrument.

• Managed or delivered sales presentations to new districts, schools and prospective teachers. Assured renewal

commitments of schools/teachers. Reviewed forecasts and interim reports with Education department personnel.

Participated in education community to assure JA’s position in the education community.

• Recruited, trained, evaluated performance of education staff.
