Production Patternmaker-Missy, Petite & Large-Size

In a domestic production environment, responsible for all production

patternmaking and related production function for all three regular and

specialty size divisions, developing better sportswear, that includes

jackets, pants and skirts. Work with a range of better fabrics, including

blitz, rayon acetate, linen blends, rayon velvet, and engineered plaids.

Report directly to the Designer/Vice President; direct design room

employees and expedite all phase of projects, with responsibility to

interact extensively with Management and troubleshoot/resolve problems

though out production.

Handle all fittings, either in systematic fitting schedules (Missy Line)

on according to according to &/or special delivery conferencing with

Production Manager/Pre-production personnel regarding special send-outs,

i.e. embroidery designs, et al. Ensure timely send outs for fabric

testing on shrinkage, dry cleaning and fusing functions to make pertinent

adjustments when required. Prepaid two sets of spec sheets: One for

contractors, with sketches, and pertinent construction data; the other

for in-

house Production Department use, containing pricing and resource and send-

out information. Write-up, send-out and check-in grading done out-of-

house; determine if manual or computer grading required. Analyze computer

Cut & Sold reports prior to/after fit to ensure that all garments sold

are production ready; confirm that volume of cut goods meets production

requirements, with special attention to problematic merchandise. Instruct

contractors on correct garment production and approve samples; ensure

that production goods are as samples. Gained extensive large-size garment

experience.

> Effectively maximize previously graded patterns to cut corner in

difficult market requiring economic measures

> Successfully negotiated with vendor, with particular on 20% price cuts

Million)

September 1987 to September1989

Head Production Patternmaker

worked with main divisions in Men & Junior Women's Casual Sportswear

domestic production, and later with added Maternity, Private Label and

Budget lines. Merchandise was fabricated primarily in better knits and

wovens, including cotton and Lycra for unconstruction jackets, casual pants

shorts and dresses. Initially hired to make 1st patterns from sketches or

knock-off garments; supervised four sample makers and in house cutter,

responsible to maintain balanced additional Patternmaker to free up time

for other divisions; scheduled group completion dates with Production

Manager re; fabric arrival, number of send-outs and delivery dates. Private

Label design for; Contempo/junior, Spiegel's of Chicago/ Women's and Macy's

/Men's. Maternity goods were developed primarily for a national chain, The

Pea in the Pod, headquartered in Dallas.
