Batch and Furnace Maintenance Manager
Manage Furnace department operations and maintenance. Operations include Raw materials
deliveries and inventory control, production scheduling ( tonnage ), parts and maintenance
purchasing and scheduling, repair completion, preventative maintenance completion. I have
direct responsibility for glass production quality and availability in a mission critical 24/7
operation. Furnace controls with the associated environmental responsibilities and AQMD
reporting requirements. Direct reporting responsibility for 11 operators and 5 maintenance
technicians.
Equipment annual maintenance and repair. Refurbishing or upgrades to the raw materials
delivery systems and the raw materials conveyance. Cooling water processing equipment
and/or equipment control systems to provide continued high availability operations. Furnace
repairs and refractory rebuilds to mitigate defects, safety issues and to prolong the asset life of
the major factory assets.
Glass science and analysis, glass quality and parametric data measurement of the molten glass
delivered to the forming department. Raw materials analysis and SPC data tracking for
recording purposes. Vendor data profiling and performance to required specifications. XRF
heavy metals testing and required permitting and training that is associated with the Furnace
Operations and production.
Budget formation and control for the Furnace department. Equipment annual maintenance and
repair projections for costing purposes. Raw materials inventory and cost analysis. Natural Gas
and Electricity tracking, costing and cost reduction projects based on the Furnace
enhancements and projected production loading. Mobile loading equipment ( ie : Skip loaders,
Forklifts )repairs and general operations costs.
