• Duties: Knowledge of electrical theory such as power factor, transformers, series and parallel circuits, line

loading, line losses, and dielectric or conductive properties of materials in order to calculate circuit values,

determine when operating limitations of equipment are exceeded, etc. I plan and carry through most

operations in the installation or troubleshooting such as repairing switch gear, installing and hooking up

transformers, locating defects in cables, or selecting materials to make installations or oscillator and tone

detector to locate faults in underground cables, or to use phasing stick or phase rotation meter to check out

rotation of cables before switching into a hot circuit. Install, repair, and maintain commonly used electric

power generating and distributing equipment. Determine types and sizes of wire, conduits, transformers, etc.,

and methods of installation and repair to assure proper and safe operation of distribution systems, using

knowledge of equipment capability, and of modifying factors such as local operating conditions. Read and

understand circuit diagrams of interconnections such as the generators, buses, switches, and circuit breakers.

Knowledge of the makeup, operation, and installation of a variety of electrical systems, circuits, equipment,

and controls, for example, wiring systems in research complexes and in buildings, power and control circuits,

and distribution panels. Test, repair, modify and overhaul a variety of equipment such as AC/DC motors,

transformers, generators, remote controls, relays, power control panels, and electrical power equipment. Refer

to blueprints, wiring diagrams and manufacturer specifications, diagnose malfunctions by visual inspection

and by using testing equipment such as micrometers, voltmeters, ammeters, and meggers. I have the ability to

plan, lay out, and complete the installation, modification, and repair of various systems, circuits, equipment,

and controls such as the routing, placement, balance, load, continuity, and proper and safe operation of

circuits and controls to industrial machinery and wiring systems in buildings, and research and development

systems. Assist other craftsman such as plumbers and carpenters on site by doing various jobs, getting tools
