As a home care nurse I have enjoyed one on one time with my patients. As a home care nurse you wear many hats, counselor, clinician, educator and friend. I have been able to teach patients how to best manage their illness and get on the path to wellness. I have gained a rapport with many physicians and my supervisors as one RN who can be counted on. I have taken on added responsibility of orienting new nurses to our agency and supervising LPNs and CNAs. Skill regularly used: patient assessment, skin and wound care, nutrition and medication management, diabetic education.

In this position I gained a familiarity with many surgical procedures and post operative care. I cared for urological, gastrointestinal, Ear Nose and Throat, vascular, orthopedic, and gynecological surgical cardiac and medical patients. I especially enjoyed teaching patients prior to their discharge, which led me to my next position as a home health nurse.
